Settler assignment menu

Post » Sun Feb 28, 2016 4:41 am

I really wish there was some kind of assignment menu for settlers and various tasks. Like you build a noticeboard and there you can assign a settler to a duty like food and they will then be automatically assigned to unassigned crops. You would also be able to see what the settler is assigned to currently. Would also make it much simpler to create and cancel supply routes.

Right now you have to run around to find settlers and then run around to the tasks you wish to assign them to. It's very tedious.

Good idea, you should post this in the mods section.

It's very tedious chasing settlers, especially when they can't always be found. I often return to a settlement that has 15-20 settlers, and can sometimes only find about 75% of them. Sometimes they're just stuck in a room, or on a rooftop, but often just not there, even though they're listed in the population. The "settler menu" that Bethesda installed in the last patch is only mildly helpful. Yes, I can see if they are assigned to crops or defense or running a store. But it would be nice if I could go to that menu and give them the assignments I want, instead of clicking on settler, clicking on a crop, running back to a settler, clicking on another crop, running back to the settler, clicking on an unused bed, and on and on. I like the settlement addition, but I agree we need to be able to streamline the assignment aspect.

Absolutely. It would make everything (especially supply lines) so much easier.

I've lost count how many times this has been suggested. I'ts easily in the top 3 of most wanted improvements. And yes, I would love it too, it's a pain to look for unassigned settlers, especially in Sanctuary. Some more stuff to assign them to would be great too, the thunderdome DLC is a good start

I have to say, I really like the idea of having a noticeboard to manage your settlers.

It's a nice, easy way to see who's assigned to what and would be an immersive way of keeping track in game. Being able to rename settlers could also help with this, as you wouldn't have to run around for ages looking for 'Settler'. It would remove a lot of the tedium and make managing settler's tasks less of a chore, and more convenient.

Until a mod or whatever comes out about this you can place a bell near the area you want to assign settlers to and ring the bell then set in a chair and then wait 1 hour and now all the settlers are near you and what you want them assign to.

Then do this in other areas you need settlers assign to.

The bell helps a little bit though they can still get stuck somewhere. I have had settlers appear and disappear right in front of me. Companions too, that I have sent to a settlement.

Yeah, that's the problem I have. The bell does help, but when Settlers don't turn up then it can be a bit of a hassle trying to track them down, only to see them stuck somewhere.

I think renaming might almost be a requirement if there's no way to add a picture of the settlers in the menu. Otherwise you might just end up with a list of 'Settler' and it'd be a guesswork over who is who.

renaming should really be implemented...this has been my biggest problem with settlers from the beginning, that, and the guards never being at their post when you come to help (what's the point in guards if they don't guard).

having a board would really help with provisioners...after you have around 15 settlements and want to tidy up the supply lines, you never know which one is stationed where, especially since they seem to travel at random sometimes and seem to bunch up at sanctuary hills.
