A DLC to expand Power Armor and make it a weapon!

The power armor has gotten a great upgrade in the feel of it in Fallout 4 and Bethesda even added a jetpack to it. But why stop there?

I would like to see a DLC that lets us attach weapons to the power armor. Maybe have 4 slots, 1 per shoulder and 1 per wrist. A couple of weapons that could be mounted is

- Shoulder mounted Rocket Pods, imagine if we had attack helicopter style rocket pods mounted to the power armor shoulders to unleash missile silo's on our enemys.

- A wrist mounted flamethrower similar to Boba Fett a convenient flamethrower at your fingertips.

- A Melee blade like weapon mounted on wrist like the Predator.

- Laser mounted cannon on the shoulders like the predator as well.

It could be done differently but the idea is to turn the power armor into a weapon. We could equip the pieces just like we equip our armor pieces. And the way to balance it so it is not OP is to require Ammo and more fusion cores to sustain the extra energy it takes to use it. It should be difficult to maintain, but I think of it as a special power like the dragon shouts where we had our weapons and magic but we had the added benefit of using the shouts as well on top of the standard use of combat.

This might be able to be modded in, but I'd rather bethesda do it and include proper animations and fully implement a new mechanic with it. The staple of Fallout 4 is customization and this will further that aspect.

Power Armor is overpowered as it is. I don't much reason in making it a gundam or megazord.

I'd agree that PA does seem OP. The other problem is it's basically redundant which combined is why I never wear it. That being said, if core drain was increased to compensate, PA equippable unique weapons would be amazing and Bethesda missed a trick by not including them in vanilla. Perhaps restricting PA's to using those weapons only, tied to your cores for ammo charge, and being unswitchable outside a crafting station (being literal parts of the PA) is worth investigating... I mean, who wears a PA to use a pistol?

I'm torn. I don't want to turn it into War Machine, but I do like the idea of a mounted flamethrower/

Cool ideas and everything but the problem is PA is very OP as it is. It doesn't need this cool stuff atm.

I stated before, the way to balnce it is make the ammo fairly scarce as well as make fusion cores hard to get... The way I see it, the power armor should be much harder to get functioning as it is. But if it is dependent on scarce resources then it will be equivalent to the mini nukes in Fallout 3 where no one wanted to use them since they were limited and only used them on Behemoths..

As a DLC? Yeah, no thanks.

I want a proper expansion like Far Harbor, Bloodmoon, ect. We're already getting enough filler as it is.

From the looks of it we are going to get a mixture of different sized DLC's small(Wasteland Workshop) medium(Automatron) large(Far Harbor) and I'd bet that the next wave of DLC's after that would fall under the same category..

This request could be any of those sizes..

Power armor is already really overpowered. I don't want to be a walking death machine with 12 guns strapped to every available location. It'd be neat from a "wow, that's badass" perspective, but from any practical gameplay perspective it would just be taking the challenge away. I'd rather see DLC take the form of something new that adds meaningful content to the game, rather than just strapping guns that we can already use onto our power armor and effectively making us even more overpowered than we already are. I don't need rocket pods and shoulder mounted flamethrowers.

This request would have basically no content as a DLC by itself. So again, no thanks.

Plus as others mentioned, power armor is super strong as it is. Limited resources or not, it doesn't need something that can make it even stronger.
