Institute and Liberty Prime

I was thinking it over and I was wondering why the institute chose to allow Liberty Prime to be destroyed. Why not destroy the air ship and save him?

He's an invincible force that can not be destroyed by anything beyond nuclear means or mass explosions.

Why not have him walk away from the blast radius? If they cant do that then why not just teleport Liberty prime out of the blast radius?

Even with the Insitutes technology, they never created a weapon as powerful as Liberty prime, why destroy it? It just doesn't add up in my mind.

For Liberty Prime to be fully operational, they need the Beryllium agitator, but the Institute needs it to power their facility. This is why Spoils of War and Mass Fusion are the turning point of each faction, getting it for one faction means you screw over the other faction.

It may not be possible to teleport something as massive as Prime with current teleporter technology. We've never seen it done after all.

And when you arrive, Prime doesn't appear to be currently mobile.

Also, why would they need it?

Its not like it would fit inside their building to begin with,(besides the concourse and it would take up a good chunk of that) nor does it have much practical use underground, and with the BoS gone, the only other major threat on the east coast is gone also.

Its a massive robot, that takes a lot of power to operate fully, that they have no real use for, and just keeping it above ground only endangers them if someone somehow managed to hack it themselves and turned it on The Institute like the BoS was planning to use it for.

Even if they couldn't power Liberty prime, what about the technology inside of the robot?

The laser weaponry that Liberty prime has is more powerful then any laser weaponry we have seen throughout the fallout series. He has the ability to disrupt energy shields. And his armor is virtually invincible against all forms of ground weaponry. All of this in my mind would be useful in upgrading the Institutes own weaponry and armor.

I guess Andro could be correct in assuming it couldn't be teleported, though I don't see the reason as to why they could teleport small things but not larger things, based on the very vague explanation as to how it works.

The main reason why they have to destroy it, asides from not being able to power up the robots, is because they want to make a point to the BoS that they could use their own weapons against them, so they should think twice about revenge. It was also about making a point. Plus, the Institute is not actually about developing weapons but pursuit of knowledge and technology. BoS is more weapon based. They are practically saved underground and they control the Commonwealth, there is no need for such a robot.
