Need multiplayer RPG suggestions.

Trying to find a game to play with a friend of mine who's a little.. special to work with. -_-

Doesn't need to be an MMO, though that'd probably be a bonus.

He's bad. Like, really bad. We're talking "if there's a forced solo challenge, he rage quits after trying it twice". For those that played ESO, he couldn't do the level 20 fighter's guild quest at level 40.

He doesn't like other people. So forced group content is out of the question. This is the biggest problem with most games, that the open world content is exhausted quick and all that's left are dungeons and raids, which he won't do, because they involve other people.

He's played WoW. He won't go near the dungeon finder. Too many people telling him he svcks. Which he does. And he's proud of it somehow. He wants to brute force smash everything, and unfortunately, it doesn't work that way.

Ideally it'd be something where everything can be done with two people. Dungeons to explore. I'd pay serious money for a Skyrim game I could drop a second person into. T.T

Probably a futile effort here but I'm asking. Not finding much in an internet search.

Stuff he *has* played and quit:

WoW

SWTOR

FFXIV:ARR

Rift

EQ2

ESO

He prefers RPGs, I tried to get him into D3 and he said it looked too complex. All the damage dodging. Hell, ESO I had repeatedly told him he can't stand in the ground effects or it'll kill him and yet he did it anyways...

><

Suggestions or am I as screwed as I think I am?

Well, I suppose you might as well give Guild Wars 2 a go. You won't be able to do any of the instanced dungeons, but you can still do world events and the personal story (which allows you to bring a partner along). And you can play it for free, so it won't be a waste of money if one of you ends up not liking it.

Divinity: Original Sin is a 2-player game that could be fun playing together.

While not RPGs, I suspect you two would have fun playing Trine and Trine 2 together. He could play as Pontius the Knight and mindlessly hit things, while you play a bit more strategic :P

Only thing needed to be considered is the other person involved is 5000km away.

So nothing requiring LAN. And I don't do consoles. :/

Eh.. A multiplayer game with no other people?

I think some mmo games that have custom server which lets you run your own and only allow people you want. I think Ragnarok Online had some.

If he wants to brute force his way through things... I'm not sure I have any RPGs I could recommend. WoW's LFD tool makes dungeons extremely easy and fast to finish.

Not listening to a "Don't stand in a fire"....

You know I already dislike this guy and I have yet to meet him.

What an interesting person. I mean you, Sakiri, for being such a kind bud.

Has your friend tried Diablo 3? It's more of an ARPG but you can get strong enough to curb stomp most things. Plus it's multiplayer.

They did. :P

I was going to suggest Path of Exile when I saw the thread's name, then I read the post. If he considers D3 to be complex he'll cry with Path of Exile. :P

Ah, that's what D3 is....wow, I thought those games were simply as hell. :P

If D3 was too complex then.....[censored].....Idk man. Dynasty warriors is super easy to play and it's Multiplayer.....not sure that counts as a RPG though.

I should probably elaborate a little bit.

He absolutely loved SWG.

Self proclaimed worst player ever in MMOs, hates it when people tell him how he should do things. You literally can *not* tell him he's doing it wrong, you have to make it seem like his idea.

He wants to play with *me*. Not other people. To be fair, in wow, it's gotten to the point where I ignore everyone else because even the guy that died on pull is somehow the best ever... But when he *did* play wow with me, he was a healer and I wasn't going to let him heal anything.

Not when I know the results.

FFXIV had a similar issue. 300 dps Dragoon. I pull three times that on my PLD tank and SCH/WHM healers. After three straight runs of the other DPS whining at me about how bad the dps was I stopped bringing him along.

I play D3 on Torment X. He'll walk into everything and get trucked, repeatedly, because it's too quick. He can't keep track of fast action combat like that. There's certain classes I won't play either for the same reason. All the wizard teleporting and crap confuses me.

His reflexes are garbage and he's got mobility issues with his left hand.

My goal is something we can play together to bridge a 9 time zone gap for however long it takes governments to sort out crap.

His skill level doesn't bother me, but the crap talking when another person is involved does, and my personal friends list, no one is in game in any MMO that I've introduced him to when he is because of said timezone gap. California to Sweden. 9 hours.

Bleh.

Kid friendly unnecessary, were referring to a ~50 year old man that's just bad at games.

Note, not all of these are RPGs but they have co-op!

-Risk of Rain, although that's heavy on the reflexes.

-Borderlands 1/2

-Castle Crashers

-Saints Row 4.

-Towerfall Ascension

-Don't Starve Together.

-Minecraft

-Left 4 dead

-Spelunky

-Payday 2

-The Lego games, the newest one is pretty fun

-Magicka!

-Damned

-Torchlight 2

-Lord of the Rings: War in the North.

-Divinity: Original Sin, My favorite!

I think divinity original sin might be your best bet. It's one or two player only, turn based combat so you don't need fast reflexes, and actually the combat is quite fun when it comes to turn based. Not insanely complex, but a lot of combinations and options in combat, and it's a pretty combat heavy game.

I'm pretty sure you can play online with it, so you don't need LAN.
