Favourite locations?

What areas in Skyrim always drag you back and just make you gawk? For me it's the road between Riften and Whiterun. The dense pine forests, the high vantage point of Eastmarch's natural springs, magnificent!

Also the College of Winterhold. With my character wrapped up in college robes, with the magical blue lights and the cosiness of the inside, strolling around the place with https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvsMn05WtaI in the background. It feels especially homely to me because I've spent most of my life in the South of England and it reminds me of the horribly cold North :)

Lastly there's Valtheim Towers East of Whiterun. Just a nice structure with a great view from both sides. Can't go wrong!

I think there are awesome sights in each hold. The Rift just feels so warm while The Pale and Winterhold freeze my backside off :)

I think my favorite places are the little scenes that tell a story, like the 2 dead bodies in The Reach where it seems a bear killed 2 lovers next to a little pond, or Blood on the snow near Whiterun where a couple(?) of Bosmers met their fates.

Scenery-wise, I am awestruck (still) so many times just wandering about. Bard's Leap Redoubt has to be one of my favorites :)

There are many (for me anyway), but I think my favorite is from the Solitude docks. Looking up at the natural rock arch with the atmosphere that is present and a nice enb. So good :)

First off, anyplace in The Rift. The Rift is my all-time favorite region in any Elder Scrolls game.

But beyond that, I love the view of Lake Ilinalta we see from the three Guardian Stones. I think that vista is gorgeous. I also love the sight of both Solitude and the College of Winterhold, seen from a distance. Bethesda outdid themselves in world design when they made these places. I still remember my first sight of Solitude: my jaw just dropped in amazement.

There are also a number of caves around the game whose interiors are stunningly beautiful, with dramatic shafts of light beaming down on small grottoes with trees and ferns scattered around. Skyrim's caves are easily the most visually stunning caves they've created yet, in my opinion.

I concur about the Rift. It's by far my favorite hold to get out and explore just because of how much I enjoy the scenery.

As far as specific locations, my two favorites are probably Ancestor Glade and the non-quest version of Bloated Man's Grotto.

All of these listed already, yes! Also, I love the tundra and mountains around Whiterun Hold, especially at sunrise and sunset.

There's so much I like, including most of the areas/locations already mentioned. My character travels nonstop so there is much to be said for the everchanging variety as she travels. If pinned down to one area, I'd say the Riverwood area: verdant forest + river + waterfalls.

There are many splendid places in Skyrim although I can't name them all off hand. Basically for me it's wherever there are trees/ vegetation and water falls. One such potential place I will name is Cradlecrush Rock. I see why giants have setup camp there. Would have been an interesting option to evict the giants and build a Hearthstead there. Add another one for the Eldergleam Sanctuary and other such caves.

You can add Forgotten Vale to the places listed here. The music there is also incredible and adds to the experience.

Even after almost a 1000hrs in Skyrim and no matter what kind of build I roll, I'm still rocking a small cabin in Whiterun hold. I like most of the people, the plains, and never even pursue a title in another hold anymore.

I love the Reach. The people there are jerks, but the scenery is nice.

I find most places in Skyrim to be quite beautiful. My favorite places has less to do with beauty and more with personal interest. The catacombs beneath the Temple of the Divines comes to mind, because of their relation to Potema.

I'll echo Pseron. Anywhere in the Rift is wonderful.

I love all the waterfalls in the game, truly a magnificent sight but I especially love the ones the originate from the mountains around the border between Eastmarch and The Rift. So many gorgeous sight-seeing spots, it's hard to pick a favorite but those above and leading down to Darkwater Crossing get high marks from me. Just lovely.
