Quick question about Legendary Edition.

Post » Wed Mar 02, 2016 4:08 am

I'm thinking about getting the Legendary edition to play the expansions.

Quick question, about how many additional game hours do you get?

I realize it's not going to be a ton, and I'll have to start my game over with a new character, just curious how much new content they really provide.

Dawnguard and Dragonborn both add quite a fair amount of content with main quests, side quests and new areas to explore.

Dragonborn especially has lots of new stuff, as you visit the large island of Solsthiem.

Hearthfire doesn't add much, but it does still take quite a while to build your home.

Overall, I'd say it's 40 hours if you just go through as an average player. But if you fully explore everything, it's closer to +50 hours. (Just an estimate from when I played through it all.)

You also don't have to start a new character, just install and the additional content will be available when you load your previous save.

My Last Dawnguard character had about 100+ hrs. .. but not only do I play slow, but I don't fast travel, she didn't ride a horse and seldom used the carriages. I seriously enjoy every minute of running back and forth, the views are amazing so to me why rush.

It all depends on how you play your game. If you just run thru it from quest to quest with no breaks or side tracks you'll go through all the added content fairly quickly, say 30 hours or so. If you play a no fast travel, explore as you go, "oh what's that over there?" style of play it could easily take 100+ hours before you're even done with one of the DLCs. Dawnguard in particular will take hours and hours just to do a single quest if you don't use fast travel as they quite literally bounce you around the map from extreme corner to the other extreme corner in the same quest.

I don't recommend picking through dlc and buying separate either.

I was missing Hearthfire. Price for it on Steam outside sales was more than going to Walmart and picking up physical Legendary Edition.
