I Love Skyrim's Combat

I agree, I think Skyrims combat is excellent. Yes, it may not be the most realistic thing in the world but I like to think of it as 'movie combat' - it looks and feels good and as, for me, the game is about telling my characters story it fits perfectly.

Considering how embarrassing the combat is in some pure combat games (how has the Assassins creed series sold more than 3 copies??) where enemies literally stand still next to you waiting for you to finish killing the one you are currently fighting, I'd say Bethesda did a great job.

I think there are some improvements that could be implemented, I'd like to see some kind of block for dual wielders for example but I guess you can't get everything.

On a second point, I absolutely LOVE killcams. I had a character a while back who had very low combat skills in my RP. She had been in Riverwood chopping logs for cash before getting a job at the blacksmith. He sent her to clear out Embershard mine. She had no weapons (as she didn't really know how to use them), only her wood axe but took along Faendal and her conjured familiar. They were able to clear most of the mine with just the two-hander remaining. Faendal was nowhere to be seen and she had no magica remaining as the dude charged towards her. In desperation I remembered her axe and gave it a swing and it clicked into the axe to the face killcam. That killcam really encapsulated the feeling of desperation, the wild swing of her weapon to save her life and served as a great tipping point for her to develop her combat skills. Weirdly it's probably my favourite moment from playing Skyrim as it really made the story feel alive.

I think it misses the crucial 'dodging' feature :D

Starting on Master difficulty results in sprinting away from enemies all the time... simply because you can't dodge their attacks in close combat.

But overall... the 'two-hand' system is incredible.

So many different ways to fight... there aren't many games that make sword-fighting more interesting than bashing a single-button.

Skyrim is one of the few that had managed it :D

What do you think of changing Skyrim's combat to something like this for dual-wielding?

- Change Dual Power Attack (L+R) to block.

- Change Normal Power Attack ® to Dual Power Attack.

So when you hold down both triggers/buttons, they block, and when you perform the normal power attack with your main hand, it instead does a Dual Power attack.

I like dual wield combat and i wouldn't like to change it so you can block. Dual wield is going full offensive and giving up on the defense. Also i have different enchantments on each weapon (like soul trap only on the left weapon).

I like to bash with a 2-handed weapon (it really feels like i break some teeth with each bash).

I don't hate killcams on a melee character, but sometimes on ranges it just get in my way. Like a bandit chief down on his knees and a killcam popped up several times in a row, but the arrows stopped just in front of me. I had to switch to melee to finish it.

That's the opposite of what dual wielding in reality is....

That would work great. there should be a mod but i think all the dual wield parry mods are rodent centric.

Well WoW is an MMO and allows for keybinds and keyboard customization. You don't see that in most PC/console games that aren't MMO's, sadly.

As for how I feel about the combat. It feels very klunky at times, especially one-handed.
