Fallout crashes while loading game

Post » Wed Mar 02, 2016 1:01 pm

I bought the game via Steam and it worked well for some time but now every time I click on "continue" or "load" in the main menu it starts loading and crashes after five minutes. There is no message from Steam or my laptop why it won't work.

Can anyone help me?

DOes this happen in a new game?

Have you tried a game cache verify?

Are you using mods?

It also crashes when I try to start a new game.

I only tried running Fallout and/or Steam as Administrator but the only result was that not even the main menu showed up.

no, I don't use any mods, just the normal game

You aren't using an Intel HD iGPU, right?

Ahh,...OK.

Any error logs on Windows event viewer or even in your Dxdiag log file?

Nothing, the screen just goes black and then the game closes.

Try to delete any ini files on those two folders and verify your game cache file after. (through steam)

C:\Users\[Your Username]\Documents\My Games\Fallout4

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4

---------

Also move all your existing saves in a different folder, and leave Fallouts 4 save folder empty.

Then in offline mode, start Fallout 4 through any of those two executables as an administrator.

Choose a new game...

---------

Can you try that out?

What makes this thread different from all the others where a dxdiag is the very first thing asked for?

I guess for the reason that the game was running okay for the first 63 hours and...

...the OP stated he hasen't found any errors on Event viewer or dxdiag log file.

Makes that any sense? :P

-------

But we could get one...if the OP is so kind to post it! :liplick:

Fair enough, seems like every 2 out of 3 "It used to work and now it doesn't" posts are either terribly misconfigured or using intel integrated.

That's the million dollar question.

There must be a lot of miss-configured PCs out there then...lol

Either this, or the game makes some exception with some of the new hardware. And that's difficult to believe really. More believable would be to assume it's driver related.

Also I'm not sure if it's game related and i wanna emphasize this, as i (personally) doesn't encountered any graphical glitches or even crashes. Not a single one.

That's kind of strange, if you take to consideration that my CPU is a dual core, and doesn't even meet the min. req. (actually it's -12% below)

Of course I'm happy, and it would be stupid to complain about... :P
