So I want to go through the path of the minuteman for my first playthrough but I was forced to do the institutionalized quest... I also did the inside job quest with sturges and he said he'll anolyze the data and get back to me. I finished the old guns quest and sturges still hasnt gotten back to me... Do I need to do radiant quest before I move forward, or am I locked into the institution path? I just want to finish the main quest but it gets confusing after the molecular level quest..

You can do institute and still be friendly with the MM. But there is probably a institute quest keeping you from progressing with the MM.

Could it be the Synth Retention quest? I spoke to Father and he gave me that quest.. Honestly I wouldnt mind having the institute as my first questline because it makes sense for the storyline. I just wanted to know why the INside Job quest didnt stop the institute storyline..

Just say no to the Director to stay in the Institute. You dont need to do any Quests of them, but i think you need the Castle for this.

Thanks guys, I decided to just go with the institute on this playthrough and will start another character for the minuteman. And yes I think I needed to flat out decline any affiliation from the institute..

Yup. I faced this scenario myself...
Your Institute guy could also do the Railroad ending.
And your Minutemen guy could also do the BoS.

The Minutemen ending is the 'easiest' as in most straight-forward (and least confrontational).
But you must get yourself Banished from the Institute before you can proceed with the Minutemen finale...
