Future DLCUpdate Request - Bring Back Danse!

Post » Thu Mar 03, 2016 4:43 am

Hi everyone,

After seeking almost 200 hours into Fallout 4 on a single character, where I sided with the Brotherhood of Steel, I just can't help but feel a massive void after the Danse situation. I was brought into the brotherhood by Paladin Danse, and while under his mentorship, I grew a strong bond with him. He easily became my favourite companion to have while patrolling the Commonwealth.

Currently, I'm role-playing that my romance partner Piper has semi-joined the BoS with me, and she's in full BoS armour with the jumpsuit but in orange as opposed to my black and she's wearing her cap. I'm role-playing that she's a 'frontline' reporter under the protection of the BoS, and while I'm enjoying that, I still can't shake away the feeling that I've been somewhat cheated with being separated from Danse.

Of course I fought super hard for his life, and after convincing him that his life is worth more, and that just because he's a Synth, it doesn't mean he can't be a part of the BoS... ...Elder Maxson. After convincing him to spare Danse's life, I can't help feel cheated, what was the point in being able to spare him, if the world now is populated with many BoS 'checkpoints' that I feel compelled to help defend, but if I'm travelling with Danse, the BoS will shoot him on site. It's just not right, he ends up becoming a pain to take out, so there's not really much point in ever bringing him along with you again.

I always hoped that maybe Bethesda would patch in a little extra stuff for free, such as being able to convince Maxson to take Danse back, since he's such a loyal soldier, even after being exiled, but there's been no sign of that yet and I know it's just wishful thinking, but after hearing this...

I have to advocate my opinion on how I feel how Danse was ultimately left, and I really want to implore Bethesda to consider adding this cut content into the main game as a free patch, or perhaps part of an extra in a future DLC that can add a few more quests etc.

I don't want to kill Maxson and take his place or anything like that, in fact I greatly respect him, his hatred for all Synth's is wrong, but he's already shown that he can listen to reason somewhat by agreeing to spare Danse. I believe it's not impossible for us to be able to convince Maxson to reinstate Danse back into the BoS because he's living proof that all Synths are not bad, especially from his loyalty to the BoS, and how willing he was to kill himself for the sake of the brotherhood without hesitation.

Perhaps a modder could add in this cut content, but I really don't want that, I want Bethesda to officially add this. I want to fight harder for Danse, I want to be able to patrol the Commonwealth with my favourite companion in the name of the BoS, that I wouldn't even be in if not for him.

If enough people can read/agree and spread this, perhaps someone at Bethesda could take notice and hopefully I'd be able to get to have my favourite companion back again. I wasn't satisfied with how little I could fight for Danse to stay or come back into the brotherhood, and after hearing those audio files... I need this to actually happen in order for my first Fallout 4 experience to feel 'complete'.

Thanks for reading, I really hope someone from Bethesda can look into this and see if you can get it put into the game. I need Danse back...

EDIT:

Just adding a segment from one of my replies to this thread clarifying something:

I should re-word my initial post, I don't actually want this cut content, I just want the part where we can save Danse, by instead of challenging and killing Elder Maxson under the BoS code, but convincing him to allow Danse back in. There could be a pretty neat questline where we would have to find a way to remove Danse's reset code to ensure he can never be controlled by the Institute and remain a 'free man'. If you convinced that scientist woman to stay, maybe you could get her to help you, if you didn't, maybe you can get Ingram to help you, or find someone else in the Commonwealth who can.

I really think this would be a perfect little side thing to add as part of a DLC for some extra quests etc, or maybe even a free update. But the DLC extra sounds more plausible.

If I remember reading Bethesda's words correctly on the upcoming DLC's, the third one will be having some extra faction quests also. This would be a perfect extra BoS faction quest addition!

It's such a shame that they took out the become Elder quest, think about how awesome it would be to give a speech to your fellow brothers and sisters about your future plans. Bringing back Danse would be just one of the many perks.

Honestly I don't want to become the Elder, and I'd prefer Maxson to still be the Elder, but we're able to convince him to allow Danse to come back. However I'm all for it being an optional thing in which instead of convincing Maxson to allow Danse back in, you can just challenge him like it appears to be able in the cut audio file, and you get to become the Elder.

I just really want Danse back, there is no reason why he can't be allowed back into the BoS, after all we've done for the BoS, Maxson can at least give us that.

Honestly, unlike Father who hands you the title, becoming Elders after a few months make the BoS structure looks weak. If anything, I would rather for Danse to become Elder after that many years of service, we could even orchestrate an entire data contamination and his identity as a synth is hidden or replaced. It would be cool if we could bring Danse back into the BoS, he always looks so sad and depressed. I don't care about being Elders, I just want Danse back as a BoS member for his own sake. :(

What if I killed Danse? :P

edit: But if they brought back that cut Elder ending, I would seriously consider joining the BoS. It just svcks that to experience an addition or change like that, I'd have to restart ALL over again. I've hit that point personally where I don't know if I could bring myself to do that again for a while.

I just had a realization; all the best characters of each faction tend die when you side with them. Danse (basically dead), Glory, and Father... I think Bethesda was just hell bent on making us feel awful when we finished this game.

Some kind of option to do this could be cool. For the most part I don't have any problems with it though. Danse's whole story adds a lot to the game. I don't really have any problems when I'm traveling with him. We encounter an occasional BOS patrol, but it's pretty rare. I did the 3 faction Minutemen ending with my second character though, so I have Minutemen patrols rather than BOS patrols. I almost never have problems with the BOS while traveling with Danse.

I felt like that whole scenario would have been forced and horrible. Maxson is greatly admired and everyone makes numerous comments about how they'd follow him anywhere. Danse is a synth. Basically everyone you talk to agrees that kicking him out was the right move. You, the Sole Survivor, are still basically a newbie to the BOS. Yes, you accomplish some pretty major things in that short time, but still, that's not going to make the rest of the BOS just accept that you killed Maxson and are now taking over as Elder. It wouldn't make sense. They'd have been forcing in a pathway to become Elder just for the sake of doing so, despite it not making any sense. I'm glad it got cut personally.

There is a reason why he can't come back: reset code

Someone from the institute can reset him, reprogramm him and send him on a suicide mission against the BoS ( sabotage the Prywden f.e. )

Or maybe such a program is already in him and just wait for being activated.

Simple solution, never proceed the MQ too far ;)

I'm sure there's a way to be able to deactivate the reset code in Synths, since afterall they are still machines, and considering we have a particular former Institute scientist in the BoS (well at least I do) the possibility of being able to disable it is even greater.

So like I said, there really isn't a reason for us to not be able to fight harder to bring back Danse into the BoS.

If you killed Danse, then tough-poopie.

Seriously though, if you killed him, than it shouldn't really affect you whether this gets added or not, since you killed him. I on the other hand, after failing the speech to convince him to live, and he threatened that if I didn't kill him, he'd kill himself, I willingly loaded my last save which was a good half an hour ago, to specifically save him, because I liked him that much. I really admired Danse and respected how true to the BoS he was, especially after even finding out he was a Synth. Even knowing this, he would of killed himself because his leader, Elder Maxson ordered him to. You can't get more loyal than that.

I should re-word my initial post, I don't actually want this cut content, I just want the part where we can save Danse, by instead of challenging and killing Elder Maxson under the BoS code, but convincing him to allow Danse back in. I completely agree with you, I don't want to be the Elder at all, I hated how in Skyrim you could become the leader in the factions so quickly and easily, I was really surprised and happy to see that we were given a highest rank anyone can hope to attain in the BoS, to me this fitted perfectly.

The thing is, why I want Danse back in, is I'm role-playing that I'm a serious BoS Sentinel, and I'm constantly patrolling the Commonwealth. I want to patrol with Danse and not have to make sure I don't bump into any BoS allies because they will attack us, I'm always seeing their vertibirds flying around me, and having help defend this checkpoint quests pop up that I quickly rush in to aid. I can't do that with Danse.

I remember reading them saying extra faction quests will be added in the upcoming DLC's, I think it's probably the third one, if this is the case, then being able to fight harder for Danse to return would be a perfect addition for a faction quest for the BoS.

We could maybe convince Maxson to agree to take Danse since he is so loyal to their cause, but only if we're able to disable his reset code, or change it to something only Maxson can know. We could maybe get the scientist you can get to come to help, or maybe even Ingram, or we have to find someone else somewhere in the Commonwealth or even in the new area in the DLC to do it, I think it would make a perfect little questline to add for the BoS!

I don't think it is so easy to deactivate the reset code - otherwise the RR would deactivate it for their synths
