Bethesda DLCs - What to expect in F4 and Hour to Money value

Post » Thu Mar 03, 2016 3:29 pm

Based on the past we know that Bethesda usually adds next to little of content when it comes to DLC

And sudden price increase? Is there something special brewing in Beth factories that is worth the price?

Hope so.

The Dying Light released (for a half $$$ of what Beth is asking for season pass) another map in their new creation called "The Following" which got around 60-70% content that base game had.

I expect no less Bethesda and for the price that is literally in line with base game on release date you should give as much content as base game had.

I had 100 hours registered in Fallout 4, and i EXPECT to have as much playing DLCs.

Rant over.

You're joking right? Remember Broken Steel, Point Lookout?

I always keep my expectations low. That way when it comes out and it was more than what I expected. I'm happy.

In this regard I disagree, but I do hope the old fallout humor comes back

I don't count hours for money spent. I count value as in did i appreciate this content, what did it add to the game, will i replay it etc.

I disagree 100%. Shivering Isles, Point Lookout, and DragonBorn were all great DLCs IMO that added new maps and tons of new content.

If your worried about the worth of a season pass then don't buy the season pass and only get the individual DLCs that you want. Since the season pass went up in price there isn't a great incentive to buy it anyway,

Unless Bethesda has DLC the size of Far Harbour yet to be announced I doubt the DLC will offer the average player 100 hours of content. Though contextually speaking, Bethesda provides a greater quantity of content in their DLC than most. It's quality that seems to be the issue, and the more salient question.
A £40 season pass doesn't insinuate a low quality product. If you're paying such a fee for content, while technically getting a deal by purchasing the season pass; you should expect something of substance.

Going in with affectedly low expectations is basically admitting " I'll gladly give you my money for a substandard product because that's the level of quality I expect your content to be".

It seems like faux stoicism to me.

Bethesda probably is one of the little devs that offer good content on the DLC.

Nope.

Not a fan of many "DLC's" but Bethesda is one of the if not the safest bet for DLC and what you are getting for payment. The only other that may come close is CDProjekt.

People spout Horse Armor or gripe about F3 DLC (Bethesda actually had a lot of trouble with F3 DLC) but it's pretty much unsubstantiated aside from the Horse Armor.

It's all subjective, I suppose, but I've always thought Bethesda's DLC have been value for money. If it's not to your tastes, then save your money for something that is. I don't understand where the sense of entitlement comes from. A company makes a product, you buy it if you choose. I don't see the point of complaining that a company doesn't cater for my tastes alone.

Precisely this, other than Hearthfire I have yet to see a bad or even meh DLC from Bethesda, as well as Obsidian.

This. Never hurts to keep expectation low to something that is out of your hand to control.

And I've seen games with more expensive for worthless contents. From the article, our first DLC sounds nice. But I still don't expect much.

'The Following' Dying Light expansion is indeed immense and I'm loving it right now but I think Bethesda will deliver quality too, they always do for me.

Compared to many packages sold as "DLC" Bethesda actually does a very good job. That said I look at the whole package once all DLC's are installed rather than simply comparing base game content per pound to DLC content per pound.

If I spend £35 on the base game, and the £25 on the Season Pass (which, incidentally is exactly what I've done) I've spent £60 for the whole package. £60 for a massive open world game that will keep me entertained for hundreds of hours plus the potential for modding (I love being an everything gamer). I could easily spend that on the latest FPS's with map packs, or worse, something like Forza Horizon 2 and all it's car packs. It's a great game, but I actually worked out about three months ago that to get all the car packs for Forza Horizon 2 at that time was in excess of £70, just for the DLC's, that doesn't include the base game. On top of that those cars aren't hidden until you buy the pack, they're right there with all the other cars in the showroom, so you'll find one you like, click it, and then it'll tell you you need to buy the Car Pack.

Say what you like about Bethesda, but if you ask me "Are Bethesda DLC's worth it?". Hell yes.
