anyone else feel sorry for Preston?

I mean I don't like him either, but purely because of the damn settlements he needs to keep marking on the map, cannot have a decent conversation with the man.

even if he was interesting, or a cool companion, or had witty dialogue, or great voice acting, I would never know because of one darn problem.

seriously can that be changed to simply be a dialogue option with him, -check on settlements, or something, and he just WONT mention them at any other time unless WE initiate the conversation.

cause seriously I started just leaving them all in the museum.

Yeah I feel sorry for him. He's an interesting character when I can get past all of his missions stuff. There definitely needs to be a settlement dialogue option.

If he would remember that I am the general and actually command him, I would feel like doing more for the man. but in classic Bethesda faction writing... you can become the leader but everyone else still bosses you around.

I've managed to get him to SH and after the first settlement mission I run away when he does the "there is another matter I would like to discuss..." leaving me with NO quests to do for him ever. I like it.

It just means now I have to be careful around SH so as to not talk to him.

I feel a sense of dread when I see him sitting in my kitchen.

If you open the FO4.esm in xEdit and look up FormID 0023888E (MinutemenMaxActiveRecruitmentQuests) you will see it's FLTV - Value 3. This means Preston will always make sure there are three Minute men Radiant quests running at all times.

Example is if you have the a "Settlement Defense", "Kitten stuck in a tree", or "Kidnapping" quest going. and you clear one and talk to Preston he will give you another quest. If you clear them all well we all know what happens then!

You can copy the form as an override into a new plugin and change the value. the lower the number the less radiant quests you'll get. (I have never tried it with 0 in fear of breaking the Minutemen quests but I use it set to 1 and he only bothers me once in a while.)

I equipped him a green laundered dress, enraging rolling pin, fashionable glasses and a chef's hat because he's a sensy little man who is only good at being a little baby and should only be making sandwiches.Yes, he's in charge of the restaurant at Jamaica Plain with all the brothas and sistas. LOL

I do. He is a slave to his programming.

Doesn't mean I don't like him though. He now endlessly fights with the Mirelurk queens at Murkwater. :P

Preston Garvey is what happens when experiments escape the lab. I love BGS games, but sheesh. :brokencomputer:

Something funny happened to him in my game.

I left him at a settlement a long time ago but I visited him one day and gave him a change of clothes and mini gun.

I think he caught something from the mini gun that gave him a glowing head.

As pictured.

Don't return to Garvey with completed quests!
They will eventually turn themselves in, leaving you free to do other stuff.

He is one of the very last remaining Minutemen who has not yet gone over to the dark side...
A good man, and a really nice fellow.
If you don't want to help him rebuild the Minutemen - then don't!
But if you join up and then complain, heheh... I mean nobody forced you.

Uh-huh...
Sounds like the pot calling the kettle black, to me.

i do not hate him he is a overall nice chazaracter he might be a bit overidealistic but he is ok

and yes i feel sorry minly because i feel bethesda messed up the minuteman questline with all those very repetitive tadiant quests and there is no option whatso ever to take revenge on the gunners and retake and rebuild quincy

actually he is even one of the better companions and his affinity perk is pretty sweet

I like him. That said, on this play through I've built up 8 or 9 settlements so I'll have enough for the MM ending, left several that I don't like completely empty and undeveloped, and am sitting on two "go clear this location and check on the workbench" quests to sit on indefinitely until I feel like doing them, and sent Preston to the Castle to oversee the Minutemen.

I remember on my last play through once getting two "defend the settlement" immediately followed by three "settlement needs help" announcements all within five minutes and have been jaded ever since. I learned the hard way that 20+ settlements was just too much.

If I joined a faction and he was in it; I'd go to the other one too.
