Does Beth know much bout weaponry ?

I wonder sometimes, I really do...

Me - Shoots raider in the head with a missile launcher.

Raider - "I must have a concussion I'm $##!ing seeing things" and then walks away.

Me - Facepalm.

Me - Shoots raider in the face with a 50 cal.

Raider - "WTF was that" and runs off.

Me - Facepalm.

Me - Shoots raider in the face with a 10mm pistol.

Raider - Raiders head explodes in a gory mess and the body is flung violently across the room.

Me - "Mmmmmmmkay then, pantsy little pistol for the win".

Missile launcher - A weapon that fires a missile that should do a large amount of area damage, yet sunburn seems more dangerous.

50 cal Sniper Rifle - Fires a round that can whack through the engine casings of a Mack truck, yet bouces ineffectualy off a human skull.

10mm Pistol - A small pistol that should be wildly innacurate at any sort of range and have low stopping power, but isn't, all hail the 10mm.

Me - Facepalm...

If in-game damage was realistic, it'd be a pretty frustrating game.

Do you know about making a game that's playable? Like the above said, if damage was realistic it would be a mess.

Do you know how to read a post ?

Do you know anything about anything?

It's got nothing to do with be a smartarse and knowing how to make a playable game, realistic or not.

The first two weapons are listed as having greater damage and therefore should do greater damage yet time and time again they seem quite inneffectual for no apparent reason, yet the 10mm seems greater than the sum of its parts, why ?

I just hate that a modded assault rifle weighs more than a mini gun?

Seriously????

Probably my least favorite weapon in the game. Heavy, not much damage, and ugly. :D

I haven't used the minigun or any big gun except for the mighty fatman [+25%more dam] for fun.

That or their perks are in handguns and expecting the other types to match the extra whatever % increase. Hell my handguns are pretty amazing with the perk maxed out, increases range too btw.

he would have to have a ton of perks in Gunslinger to make the 10mm weapon deal more damage ^^

the completely unupgraded Hunting Rifle already does 44 damage without any perks... the 10mm pistol maxes out at something like 60-70?! fully upgraded with all the 5 perks.

It's a great weapon, but only because of its high fire rate :D

I can't see it dealing more damage on a single shot though ^^ Even the slightest upgrades on the Hunting Rifle will make it have far more damage ^^

I think the Hunting Rifle goes up to 195 or something?!

It's still not enough for that type of a weapon, but it sure beats the 10mm on a single shot, doesn't it? :D

Not if the handgun is upgraded and perked and the hunting rifle isn't. He/she didn't include a ton of info about mods or perks to get any idea about whats really going on. This just looks like the problem hes having, I know I had a handgun build that was better than the rifles, the damage and range was pretty comparable.

He could also have bad luck or just ended up getting a crit on the handgun hit too.

Hell who knows, hes just complaining it seems :D

I'm sure they know a missile launcher does more damage than a 10mm pistol.

And yet a minigun is basically a popgun. Instead of a chainsaw using bullets.

Not to argue your points, they do have some merit, but do you realize that IRL the 10mm pistol is no slouch?

A little info on the 10mm round from the wiki

Yep!

The 10mm was developed for the FBI (if I remember correctly) after the failure of the crappy subsonic 147 grain JHP 9mm loads they used in a famous Florida shootout. The full-power 10mm loads (a magnum really) proved to have too much recoil for many of the FBI field agents so that's when Smith & Wesson got to work on the .40 - a smaller cased version of the 10mm with less power but also MUCH less recoil. After all that R&D I think for the most part many departments actually returned to the 9mm (just with MUCH better higher velocity loads).

Here is linkage to that shootout:

I wouldn't say "realistic" but I'd like weapons to do proper damage depending on weapon type, location, armor, etc. A headshot of any kind on a human NPC or us should be instant death if they're not wearing a helmet. Creatures should have tougher hides but humans should be human and if we're not wearing armor, a single bullet should cause limb damage and the like.

I'm starting to rant a bit but this touches upon what the OP is saying.

Fallout isn't a realistic, tactical shooter and never has been. Your expectations are unreasonable.

And I have max perks in every weapon group but unarmed. My missile launcher tears up everything that even looks toward the explosion. I have no idea how Op is doing. As others suspect, it has to be bad perks.

It's supposed to be a machine gun designed for power armor troops.

In the art book its actually described as Machine Gun and not assualt rifle.

There's really not enough info to go on from the OP, I think.

Fallout 4 uses RPG mechanics. A weapon does a range of damage based on it's mods, your perks, and your target's resistances.

I believe headshots may do more damage (depending on the enemy) but it's only a kill if the numbers say so.

In the inventory, it will show you what each weapon's damage values are so you can make proper comparisons.
