Well on the automatron thread I said March 15th is likely the date that the dlc will launch live for everyone. So i'm guessing sometime between 10-14th of march for the patch update
I wouldn't trust any news if it's not from Bethesda themselves. Especially when they're very quiet.
Usually for the consoles it takes about a week or so after the Microsoft or Sony gets the patch to test it out. I believe Sony is usually a bit faster in approving a patch.
As for the launch date for the first DLC we have no ETA on the launch except that it is stated for March.
The beta ended, it was https://www.vg247.com/2016/02/29/fallout-4-1-4-patch-now-live-on-steam-no-console-eta/ so to suggest it might come over the weekend makes sense.
Surprise Estimate: March 15'th for both patch and Robot DLC.
Realistic Estimate: March 22 for Both on console.
Console Manufacturers Be Draggin' their Feet Estimate: March 29.
And then Automatron DLC delayed for another 3 months
It's not up to Bethesda at this point. It's in Microsoft and Sony's hands.
Actually i'd predict they land at the same time regardless of the date. The DLC's Wasteland Workshop and Automatron are probably actually in a ready state. maybe a couple more weeks for workshop testing.
The biggest hurdle is getting through Sony and Microsoft. It used to take a month to get even a simple patch through let alone DLC and even then charging 50k just to do it in some instances. Competition is a great thing thankfully. Both companies have made decent strides in fast tracking patches for more popular titles and working with smaller developers to aid in some endeavors.
The improvement is actually fairly telling. You see many smaller updates as opposed to big heaping updates. Those large updates were most likely in part due to the fact that it was such a long process of just getting a patch through.
50k! Are you sure? That sounds insane to me.
I'm not sure if Sony and Microsoft really charge publisher for file update.
But what I heard is that back then Sony had a plan to charge 20k for those who upload a patch within a month of game release date or something. Basically they just wanted to combat the ridiculous Day-1 patch a.k.a selling broken/unfinished game at release day.
Makes more sense. It's still a lot of money.
