I'm guessing some of you have encountered this bug. As I've seen it mentioned while doing a google check earlier. But couldn't find a solution to it.

Basically I was on my way out of vault 81 & on my way decided to talk to this person, who turned out to be Erin. She told me about her missing cat & I said I'd help. After some searching of the vault I found out via youtube that the cat is outside. I found the cat but when I go up to it I see no prompt. And as for a companion helping, Danse refuses & Cait agrees but then just goes & stands next to it!

Is there anyway round this bug? For e.g. is there a particular companion that will pick the cat up? (I'm on PS4)

Oh damn - I wonder if that's a possibility that they programmed for.

Dogmeat seems to be laid back with anyone who is not attacking.

I was able to talk to the cat when I got close, I don't remember the conversation options, but afterwards the cat ran back to the Vault, and after checking with Erin, I completed the quest. I had Dogmeat with me at that time, some 250 hours ago.

Really don't know what to do now. Tried getting dogmeat to inspect, but nothing happened. He just stood there barking! lol. I then maxed out pacify & told ashes to go where I was going. But she only goes a little bit into the entrance of vault 81 & then stops! As a matter of fact some steps further than the point you go before you see the load screen as you enter vault 81. But for some reason that doesn't happen for her. I would've thought she'd go past a certain point & then disappear, then re-appear in the vault. Similar to how you see the a.i humans going in & out of rooms.

as far as I can remember there are no dialogue options - you just approach the cat and your character says the following.....

''Ashes go home, Erin misses you''! ...Or words to that effect and then Ashes just does a runner back to the vault and hey presto quest is done.

I've noticed there is a slight delay to ending the quest once you have spoke to Erin as she has to talk to the damn cat before you get the end of quest notice.

Not sure if you even have to get the dialogue in some instances.

I was fighting a Deathclaw & some Scorps in that general vicinity when the message came through to return to the Vault & speak to the grrl.

try saving & fast travelling away & back sorta thing.
