How would you create a MeleeRanged character?

Post » Sat Mar 05, 2016 1:55 am

I'm looking to build a combo Melee/ranged character next (still waiting on more details about new survival mode, but I like to plan ahead).

I'm thinking a couple points in big leagues and a couple points in rifleman. Also thinking of doing a rank or two in chemist since I have t tried it yet and it helps bridge the gaps and has huge Melee boosters. Also, demo expert is out - done it a couple times now and I'm ready to move on.

I'm a bit split though if I want to get a 7 in AGI for ninja (which benefits both) or a 7 in LCK (since criticals benefit both) or Doing something else entirely.

Thoughts?

I would also suggest the resistance perks to complement you when you really get into the [censored]. As for the toss up between ninja and critical if you are adamant on one or the other I would say ninja. Ninja on its own will massively increase your staying power whereas for criticals to be truly helpful (in my opinion) you have to put points into several different critical perks.

Start out building a Melee character first as ammo is scares at the start. After he is proficient in Melee start on ranged.

I plan on doing this from my next run! My specials will be S3P3E3C1I6A9L3 and i'll use the special book to get 4 strength (for blacksmith). This is by no means a min/max character, but the idea is to use sneak + Ninja + Rifleman for sniping bonuses at the beginning of fights, then move in with blitz + big leagues + Bloody mess for melee bonus multipliers. I'll take scrounger for ammo, and armorer for better survival.

This is a level 50 build, but by level 20 I'll have all the perks mentioned above decently leveled!

Stealth oriented, or guns-blazing combat? Supplementing melee with guns, or guns with melee?

I can help you with guns blazing, melee focused - fight defensively. Take up arms in a suit of power armor - the STR boost helps your melee combat a ton, although I'd still suggest considering a high base STR for Rooted. Since melee covers close combat, focus on long-range, high-power ranged weapons like the Gauss Rifle, Laser Musket, and Combat Rifle. Automatic weapons would be a good supplement, too, since you'll be saving ammo for the fights where you really need to fill something with lead or plasma as fast as you can.

I've also rolled a pirate character that focused on explosives, melee, and pistols pretty much evenly, and that was fun.

Do you want a tank or a glass cannon?

Tank - more str to max 9 for the Rooted perk / Glass cannon more agility - go to 9 on that stat (sneak, Mr Sandman, ninja and blitz).

Need min 3 str for armourer perk for either build.

If reliant on VATS bump up Luck to 9 for perks ...Better crits, critical banker, Grim Reapers Sprint and Four Leaf Clover.

Perception max 4 for Locksmith.

Endurance max 5 leading to Aqua boy/girl after Chen Resistance

Int max 7 for Gun Nut (Silencers etc), Science for other weapon mods and Chemist

Charisma max 3 for Lady Killer and Lone wanderer - NPC companions svck at sneak/stealth.

This is of course assuming you want to go stealth with ranged and up close and personal (which I'm doing in my current play through)

Also check out this web site if you don't know about it - helps to sort out a build for FO:4........http://www.levelbased.com/guides/fallout-4/tools/special

Just hand the character a melee weapon, bring Strong, and SMASH
