Would you like to see shields in the Fallout series?

They must atleast have been given it a thought during development if you look at concepts like http://i.imgur.com/gAddxsv.jpg?1and http://i.imgur.com/S1ALUas.jpg?1.

Personally I think it would give a bit more flavour to a melee character. Should also be lore friendly, such as shields made out of scrap/car parts/whatever (is that second concept a.. trashcan lid?). The riot shield would have some stopping power but would it be strange for any other kind of shield to be able to stop a bullet? I don't know much about bullet ballistics so would be nice to know.

Thoughts?

I want a shield. For normal and even a huge shield addon for the power armor and make it a hold to block none of this quick time event blocking. I dislike the way you block in melee atm :C What if i wanna stand there and be a fortress and let them crash themselves on me. Plus the fact ghouls are very random on attacks and changes speeds to fast to block there little warp dive attack i should be able to just have a big wall to stop them.

It'd be cool. It could have the same condition mechanics that power armor has, so it can break.

It would be cool to have shields made out of various scrap, im imagining a power armour melee playthough with a shield that is the door of a car.

maybe, would be interesting would be cool if they added a riot shield & police uniform & Hat to the game & other types of shields maybe have it that they can break.

Heh, i get your point but this wouldnt be skyrim shields and it wouldnt mean everyone running around with shields. If you get shoot at its logical to take cover and if you fight melee it would be logical to do what you can to protect yourself and be mobile. Doesn't have to be viewed as shields but rather a way to interact with your enviroment to creat mobile cover for a melee build. Except riotshields. Thats obviously a shield


It would also add some extra challenge fighting the numerous melee raiders.

It's unlikely (like dr.scandi) that we could get the Skyrim shield system but perhaps it could be like MW2 (I think that's the on haven't played cod for years now) where you can place the riot shield in the ground and use it like an makeshift barricade

I'd rather be dual-wielding pistols, shields are a bit too fantasy for the Fallout setting.

Hell yes! I can just imagine my dude with his shishkabob and some scrap metal shield running headfirst into a group of raiders.

I wouldnt want anything labeled "fantasy" in fallout either. Though I dont really feel riotshields, welded scrap pieces and metal or basically any junk already laying around in the fallout world used as a shield/handheld protection to be fantasy.


If it would be some silly magic forcefield I would agree.

A Power Armor chest plate used as a shield while in Power Armor. Now that would be awesome.

I remember seeing some concept art of what I am assuming is a raider using Power Armour with a Jetpack. Now just imagine you ran into one or two of those WITH riot shields! That'd be a sight to behold... Unless you are running.

If it is ever implemented it'd be fantastic to see Supers and Raiders using shields, especially if it ricochets physical ammo away and potentially back at you. Would be a tactics changer... Would also like to see them having the durability feature that PA has.

Voted YES. PA + Riot shield = immovable object!
