Rock Mod Recommendations

Post » Sat Mar 05, 2016 7:37 am

For those of you who play with NOM and Tamriel Rebuilt, what rock meshl/texture mods do you use? I'm looking for recommendations because I know some of them change the shape of the rocks, leading to doors being covered up in TR and/or certain elements of NOM getting covered up.

Thanks!

This is exactly what I was looking for, thank you! Is there any texture replacer you'd recommend? I've heard of "On the Rocks," but last I checked I thought it was both a texture AND mesh replacer.

I'll let someone else give a texture recommendation. I haven't changed my rock textures in a few years now and I know a lot of new graphics mods have come out in that time. http://mw.modhistory.com/download-56-5679 is usually a good basis to start from.

edit: you may be able to use the textures from On the Rocks. I can't recall if Taddeus gave them the same file names as the vanilla textures... if he did then you could just take the textures from the archive. His textures were pretty good IMO. If not, you could still do that, it'd just be a little more work renaming files.

I should finish my improved rock meshes mod which is based on Correct UV Rocks. Here is the https://www.dropbox.com/s/5naerauemqu9j0s/WIP_smooth_correctuv%20rocks.7z?dl=1 which already includes all rocks covered by Correct UV, and a few more. But there are some missing which are not in the Correct UV mod, most prominently the bitter coast rocks (which already have a good uv map). My meshes are basically subdivided and slightly randomly sculpted, so the basic shape remains the same. They even use the vanilla meshes for collision, so they should be compatible with everything. Sure, On the Rocks still has more interesting shapes, but they can be incompatible with mods.

I might also make textures to go with my meshes (though you can really use every replacer with them), which make use of the new MGE XE PBR feature. But first I should really get the remaining meshes done.
