How exactly does one keep scripts compatible with OpenMW?

I seem to remember reading that certain scripting techniques which would "get by" in plain Morrowind and the CS wouldn't work in OpenMW. Firstly, is this true, and secondly, if it is, are there any lists of specific script functions/whatever to avoid? I've probably stuffed it all up already in the modding I've done so far, but at least I can learn for the future...
