Call for help with Molecular Level Build --A Gremlim?

Post » Sat Mar 05, 2016 9:59 pm

Sorry to bother you all on this topic, but a forum searches (with molecular level, power connections, electrical connections and similar combinations for the period 01 Nov 2015 to date yielded zero)...

I am running FO4 on a PC (on Windows 10).

I have 30 power each of the 3 large generators connected to the same central pylon from which a wire then goes from the pylon (1 each) to the console, the intercept dish, and the beam emitter.

However, I cannot get a connection to the reflector platform from the pylon (nor from the console, the beam emitter nor the intercept dish --and I have more than enough copper for wire!).

The reflector platform (which I presume I will have to stand on later to get into the Institute) shows just a single green lightning (energy) bolt without a number (all the others show the green bolt with a number which reflects they are powered).

The PIP Quest info tells me I have to power up the interceptor beam.

Any suggestions? What may/have I missed?

I am going to a prior save, where I talk to the BoS engineer/scientist at the airport and get my initial list and attempt a new start --hopefully later tonight.

Until later, good hunting to one and all. regards, RC

I had this glitch and just rewired everything.

To one and all --- I have now attempted to rewire the teleporter several times without success and even started from an old save and rebuilt it from scratch in the alphabetic order the component systems appear on the PIP misc list --- no success. In every attempt I could not connect electric power to the reflector platform!

--is there an order to connect the power to the various subsystems? eg: 1st the sat interceptor then the console etc etc?

--is there an order to build the various subsystems?

--should I use more than 1 pylon ( I have tried 2, but with all three generators to one pylon then that pylon to another from which I went to the various subsystems in a spider or spoke set-up to avoid crossed or close to crossing wires in case this was a problem without this resolving the issue) [I have even tried a single small generator (for total power 33) for the reflector platform's power only without success (and tried with it linked to the 3 big generators, too)

I should sign this one "frustrated" but I will continue to hunt and explore from a pre-build save until I hear from you.

In advance, thanks for the inputs. regards, RC

I think I know what your problem might be. Did you place the platform underneath the Molecular beam emitter. Some times they will not snap together but the platform needs to be underneath the emitter. The platform is triangular shaped and the points fit between the legs of the emitter. They in effect become one item and the platform draws power via its connection to the emitter.

When I wire the mess up I run a wire from the generator to the control console and from there to the emitter to the relay dish and then back to the console from the dish. The wiring makes a big loop from the console and back to it.

Thanks! I did not put the platform under the threelegged emitter. Nor did I create a loop, I hooked up the three generators to one pylon and then from that pylon to a 2nd pylon from which I drew a wire (one each) to each component -except the platform would not connect. As someone who actually took and passed some electrical engineering classes back in my youth, my connections (except the need to be under the emitter) should work.

I will place the platform under the emitter and see what goes. Again, thank you for the feedback! regards, RC

It worked! I tried a power line to the emitter, to the satellite/capture dish, and to theconsole --with the platform "snapped" into the emitter-- and it worked. It also worked with a power line to the console and from the console with one line to each dish and emitter --still with the platform snapped into the emitter's base. But, I would not have figured out putting the platform under the emitter without the help, at least not without a lot of luck after a lot of frustration. So, thanks again for the help B) . Good night and good hunting! regards, RC

Your welcome!

Its little stuff like this that will drive you up the wall and make you wonder if you will ever get to the end of the main quest.
