Game breaking glitch in 1.4

Post » Sat Mar 05, 2016 11:07 pm

Played with 1.4 installed for the first time today, as soon as I try to get to the Pip-Boy, my character pulls his arm up for a moment, making the Pip-Boy appear unusable, but then continues to pull sideways, making it impossible to use. As so the game is broken by the Pip-Boy being rendered inaccessible. This happens with existing or new saves or characters, full screen or windowed, without any mods installed.

I would attach the screenshot I captured if I could figure out how. It also took me forever to manage to get the terrible captcha you use to render in a usable state in Chrome, Bethesda. I would really appreciate some help before the DLC arrives, as I would like to be able to play it.

Is that what you are getting if you open the Pip-Boy?

What resolution do u use, and what frame-rates you are getting?

Exactly. My character moves his arm up normally, the Pip-Boy appears momentarily on the screen, and then is pulled sideways, resulting in what you see in the picture posted.

You don't have a stealth armor part, do you?

Also try to switch to third person view and back to first person view. Then try pip-boy again!

Try to quick-save and load that saver after.

If u use a power armor, exit your power armor. Store all of your apparel in a workstation. While naked get in and then get out of your power armor.

Tried everything, nothing solved the issue. I now see that I can access the Pip-Boy, when in the Power Armor interface, but as soon as I exit, the issue returns. This is starting to really frustrate me. I have over 150 hours of gameplay in this game and never had major issues like this until this latest patch.

Unfortunately that was the first thing I tried. Previous saves or creating a new one, nothing helps.

I would go back to basics. Delete everything in Fallout 4\Data that is not part of the base game - like textures\*. A lot of texture mods leave trash behind.

Let Steam validate the game.

You might have to delete your ini files and let the game recreate them.

Sort of sounds like you got a bad download on the patch.

Thanks for the suggestions Robert, I will try that tomorrow, probably reinstall the game from the original discs too or just redownload from steam to make sure everything is installed correctly and see what happens. I will post again here with the results.

If you do all of this you mentioned above, you could also send me your save to check it too.
