Aquatic Creatures

Post » Mon Mar 07, 2016 2:31 am

There's a pretty damn good chance that the next couple DLCs, will introduce underwater combat with aquatic monstrosities. First of all, there's the Harpoon Gun that is still in the Fallout 4 files. Then there is also that Quest icon with a ghoulified whale in it. Then you find those mutated fish, dolphins and sharks lying dead on the shores/harbors. Plus, while playing Fallout Shelter today, after the latest update one of my Wasteland Explorers said something about aquatic creatures being even more deadly now, but tasting just as great. I'd bet that the Far Harbor DLC will introduce underwater content.

Yes good thread!

Personally I'd like the dolphins to be friendly. I think that there aren't enough non violent creatures in the Fallout series.

I'd just be happy with some fish. One of the earliest things I found in Skyrim and loved was finding more than just slaughterfish in the water. I was really disappointed that there are not fish in the streams or lakes. But oddly enough there are fish packing plants and fish heads to find in a lot of places in game. Would have really liked to have found schools of fish. Just put some life in the water is all I want.

Would be nice. But it's equally likely that stuff is just part of unfinished, cut content

I'm terrified of diving in the deep waters. It took my till I was lvl 49 to go out to the submarine, and even at that I swam straight for it while hitting enter so I would open the hatch as quickly as possible and get out of the water, lol. Part of me really wanted to explore hat hulking beast, but I was literally terrified of what I'd find. Any new DLC that involves marina creatures will certainly scar me for life. I've read too much Lovecraft =(

It's very likely in my mind. This is an area Fallout hasn't explored before (interiors of Oil rigs far off coast don't count), so it would be a good opportunity to see what kind of monster it takes to survive the irradiated seas. We know that the Dolphins exist and there's a plentiful supply of them, so are they top of the foodchain? Or do the carcases indicate an Alpha predator above them?

EDIT: like Phoss, I've got a bit of Thalassophobia, so anything bigger than me swimming around me and striking from below is instant "uninstall game" fuel.

Those aren't dolphins, mate. Sharkins, a dark experiment gone wrong, the stuff of nightmares.

So many possibilities! Sharks, giant squid, octopus with stealth, little fish, toilet flushed gold fish, the Axolotl would look cool, even mutant seaweed!

Spoiler
They are an experiment as indicated by a Institute terminal.

As for how the carcasses look, I think that its mainly due to Mirelurks, you will see them eating the carcass. I have also come across a few that were not split open like that.

Interestingly enough if you attack the undamaged carcass you can rip it open. Meaning that Bethesda put damaging the sharks into the game. I can only hope that they go further with this. Of course I only want this if it is fun. No one has asked the question yet about how sea combat will work.

You guys want to see true fear in deep ocean ? Play Subnautica, they even have VR support, its early access though

EDIT: here's hoping they add that cool power armor that was ilustrated in the concept art that was intended for the Institute, it realy fits the theme.

Yes yes and more yes! Really need to spice up our underwater experience. There's so much of it and minus one quest (That I had taken to be the ghoul whale) there's really not much use or reason for the major expanse of it.
