What do PS4 gamers think of Bethesda's latest effort?

Post » Mon Mar 07, 2016 3:27 pm

Are you honestly trying to compare RDR and GTA, games where every single building is a cardboard cutout you cant interact with, and every item smaller then a bench is permanently glued to the game world in place, to game like Fallout where you can pick up and move every fork?

I dont have a PS3, nor have I ever owned Fallout on the PS3, I dont know where you got the idea i did.

Stop cherry picking and either respond to the entire post or not at all. I don't have time to bother with a person trying to change the subject.

Dude if you want to make claims of incompetence do not include Naughty Dog, a flipping first party developer that BELONGS to Sony, in your list. And it is well known that developers of all sorts spoke out heavily against Sony's use of the Cell Microprocessor. I'm a little disappointed that it didn't catch on since it looks like it could have been an amazing tech if developed more and adapted better, but a lot of what it does better can also be handled well by GPUs which I think is why it lost it's allure. Back to the point, although a lot of what you say has some credit, you can't include a first party developer. It's their job to know the tech inside and out. It's also worth mentioning that the 'ICE team' are based in the same offices as Naughty Dog, these are (I might be wrong here) the engine support guys.

Also it's worth mentioning, and I might just be super lucky here, but I did not suffer from ANY issues with FO3 and Skyrim on the PS3. New Vegas I played on the PC cause I wanted to try the mods, but the other two I played exclusively on the PS3 and they where fine.

EDIT: Just to mention that me saying 'flipping' is not meant to insult you or Naughty Dog. In fact Naughty Dog are my favourite devs, played there games since Crash Bandicoot 1, and they are among a very few developers where I can trust the game they develop WILL be good.

I answered the post with the exception of the final line because its nothing but unsupported arguments based on the unproveable idea that Bethesda didn't think they had solved, or at least mitigated, the Ps3 lag issues to an acceptable level before release.

Its not an argument, so theres nothing to respond to.

All you have to do is look at Skyrim's PS3 forum to see what a horrible abomination it was, we were even told not to explore and stay in a small spot to help the lag, and to play janitor and pick up every little thing after a battle. Let's not forget! That delicious 10+ minute loading time if I had any of the DLC installed!

I keep seeing the "But it was hard port to the Ps3!" when 4J ported Oblivion and it had no issues, no framerate problems, no freezing. We only started getting issues when Bethesda ported the SI.

I have only one thing to say.. Aside from the known love affair that Bethesda has with Xbox and always has.. Morrowind was NEVER released to the PlayStation.

Go and purchase "The last of us" for PlayStation 3.. There play it.. And see the most jaw dropping graphics I have ever seen in any game..

On PlayStation 3..

Nothing more to say really.. Bethesda is biased towards Xbox and probably always will be.

Don't forget the statement that we were "excessive" if playing beyond a certain number of hours.

Don't forget how the company that ported Oblivion to PS3 did it without causing too many bugs or lag. When SI was ported by Bethesda, that's when bugs started.

Seems it's less a problem with the system and more Bethesda is so focused on PC architecture that is shared with Xbox that they didn't want to put any effort in fixing the PS versions. Seriously, if a different developer could port it fine, why can't Bethesda?

Ah yes, and then the guys who ported NV started blaming the players and the PS3 for how horribly and buggy NV was too!
