Fallout 4 Automatron DLC Plot Hypothesis (Explained)

Post » Tue Mar 08, 2016 2:41 pm

Alright, so last night I was going through my third or so Fallout 4 playthrough and somehow missed the "Silver Shroud" questline where you become a hero and take down bad guys. You become this "Shroud" and kill a bunch of thugs pretty much.

As I was doing this questline, I was listneing to the Silver Shroud radio station. The Shroud and his Accomplice (dont remember her name Mysterious Woman or something) were tracking down robots. Thats hint number one. To even solidify this statement, the Shroud goes on to say:

"No! It cannot be! Their leader is a robot! No, not a robot. A man in a robot suit!"

He even goes on to state that the man is "The Evil Mechanist."

Now I do not believe we will be meeting the "Mechanist" from Fallout 3 due to the fact that whoever lived was completely up to the Player. It is not completley ruled out though, and is still possible.

However, due to the fact that The Sole Survivor played as the Silver Shroud and attempted to stop evil doers, would in turn potentally spark a chain reaction for others to do the same, or opposite...

I believe we will be getting a companion or two with this DLC as we traverse the wasteland as the Silver Shroud seeking out the Evil Mechanist and put a stop to his evil shcemes. Honestly, this sounds absolutely amazing to me. I loved the questline and a branch off of it with an actual Villan?? Thats just amazing.

Keep in mind this is all a hypothesis and not supported by anything else but my own persom experiences and thoughts.

I don't see why the Silver Shroud would have anything to do with it. Those are radio plays from 200+ years ago. They aren't about current events from the wasteland.

We'll be getting a companion in the form of a robot companion. I don't see us getting any other companions from it though.

Yes, because no one could do a radio play in the existing game.....

I mean there are plenty for crazies in Wasteland to attempt to become a Pre-War Villan when they hear theres the Hero to match it.

Well yeah, anyone could make a radio play. Perhaps I'm reading the OP incorrectly, but I took it to mean that the characters mentioned in the Silver Shroud radio plays could be relevant to, or actual references to the Mechanist and the Automatron DLC. Given that they're over 200 years old, this seems unlikely.

Nice thought! I'm mostly interested in crafting our robot pals... I hope the DLC drops tomorrow, since it'll be a tuesday (and my spring break starts the next day...)

I saw one of new trophy accidentally and I am 100% sure The mechanist won`t have very happy ending at the end of this new DLC story.

.... and yes he is evil

(Explained) in the headlines lead me to believe OP knew anything concrete. Leaving unsatisfied

It says "hypothesis" meaning that its a guess backed up by certain facts to make it somewhat solid. Hypothesis cannot be proven true so it's your fault for coming here looking for absolute answers. Its speculation.

I didn't get that from reading it. The OP is just talking about how someone could have taken on a character from the radio show just like the sole survivor did.

Unfortunately, the DLC is not going to drop tomorrow. Video game companies love to give advanced notice for when the game or DLC is released. All Fallout 3 DLC except Mothership Zeta and the PS3 DLCs came out on Tuesday. Mothership Zeta came out on Monday and PS3 DLCs came out on Thursday. The announcement for Automatron might come out tomorrow, but it is more likely for Automatron to launch March 15. Besides, they could do the whole Ides of March thing with the announcement.

Having (Explained) is useless as most would already assume you're going to explain a hypothesis. I just figured mabye it had more substance. The fault is on the OP for overwording something leading for it to sound like more than just a guess that's been repeated 84 times here. But thanks for your input

Isn't there an NPC who takes on the Persona of the Manta, who was also a comic character of the back when?

I'm pretty hip to the theory, and according to the released statement...I look forward to building a small army of robots.

The original blurb does say robot companions plural, but I doubt this will mean anything beyond that, as in the vanilla companions with their loyalty quests and expansive dialogue.. The quest aspect of it doesn't sound very substantial.

Todd Howard says "...Automatron has a little quest line and this Pokémon-esque ‘kill robots, get their parts, build your own’ [gameplay]. The robot building is really deep. It’s great."

Basically, sounds like a crafting extension for bots.

I hope we can build bots in the DLC to use in the main game as cargo carriers, and to repair machinery and structures. If nothing else the ability to bring back from the DLC, the ability to repair and mod damaged bots from the game to carry loot, gear and tools to salvage items in the game.

HIGHLY unlikely. It isn't on sale yet. I cant remember ever seeing a game or dlc being released without pre-order opportunity. Atleast in the digital age ;)

But lets hope for the survival patch instead ;)

Already had the pre-order opportunity since September with the Season Pass. However, the day they announce the date for it will be when they start selling the Automatron-only DLC.
