Slow down after time

Post » Wed Mar 09, 2016 11:51 am

This is a very specific problem that occurs after 1-2 hours of game play and is not resolved until the PC has been turned off for some time. It is the only game that this problem occurs in so does not stand to reason that the problem is my end (although I'm open minded on that). Indeed, I can play games with far higher requirements than Fallout 4 at a far higher level of fidelity without these problems ever occuring. It has also been happening since release and no patch to-date has fixed it.

So, the problem.

- Slow environmental asset loading, e.g. vehicles, rock formations, trees.

- De-sync between lip syncing and soundfile during cut scenes.

- Slow loading of models when switching between weapons (empty hands).

- Scripts run slowly.

- AI stopping dead (animals spinning in circles, 'actors' just stood in one place doing nothing but not frozen)

- Environmental sounds missing, e.g. thunder during a storm, or weapons fire.

- Increasingly long loading times.

- Icons in the Workshop take ages to load, if they load at all.

+ There is no FPS loss during this occurrence though.

+ I have the latest nVidia Driver (downloaded the other day).

+ My system requirements are above minimum, above recommended.

* Lowering graphics options, including shadows, Godrays and vSync make no difference at all.

* I use an SSD, not a HDD.

* I have tried the tweaks, even though they're not specific to my problem, but they had no positive effect at all in relation to this issue.

I would appreciate any help offered but please let me be clear on something. Do not ask me to post my full system specs, just take my word that they're far above recommended. I tried Bethesda customer service, when this first cropped up months ago, but Bethesda customer service is a lie. it doesn't exist because they never got back to me.

I have researched this through google but cannot find references to my specific problem, only FPS drops which I do not suffer from.

Thanks in advance for any help offered.

Is it possible you have a corrupted save or maybe ini file? I have read that too many saves can slow down changing from cell to cell.

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it. The issue isn't limited to a saved game, I've tried re-starting and using different saves, both quick, auto and manual. In fact, it's not even limited to hardware because I recently upgraded to a larger SSD so what it's installed on now is not the same drive it was installed on when it was released, yet the problem persists.
