Help with Ebony Blade

Looking for some direct feedback from the forum here. Does anyone here use The Ebony Blade in Skyrim? What is the easiest way to level the sword up on PS3?

These days I don't tend to bother with the Ebony Blade.

The wiki should have some good ideas. I think you need 10 people to level up the blade. Anyone you've sold ore/wood/produce to or done a favor for is game.

You can get 6 people easily by destroying the Dark Brotherhood. You can use the Ebony Blade to perform Boethia's sacrifice and get credit for both leveling up the blade and advancing Boethia's quest.

Just hire some followers you'd never use and use the Blade on them.

If you have Dawnguard it's easy. You need to craft the http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Aetherial_Crown and store the http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:The_Ritual_Stone in it. Then you can use http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Ebony_Blade_Victims to find a suitable victim to repeatedly resurrect by wearing the crown and using the Ritual Stone power. Re equip the crown to reset the power after use and repeat until the blade is at max power.

If you don't have Dawnguard installed, you can still manage by completing the conjuration master quest and buy Dead Thrall from Phinis Gestor. Since you're on PS3 and not using any unofficial patch that change how Soul Trap works, you can easily max Conjuration by casting Soul Trap on a dead corpse until you reach 90 skill and then seek out Phinis Gestor at the College of Winterhold. If you for whatever reason are unwilling to do this, you should follow the guide I linked and kill 10 different people.

For a PC user with unofficial patch, I think it's a good weapon since it saves me the trouble of unequipping it and cast a heal or pause to use a potion, keeps the combat flowing. But in your case you should be aware of this bug:

"The Ebony Blade is wielded in two hands, but is considered a http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:One-handed sword rather than a greatsword. This means that it gets the benefits of a generic http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Two-handed weapon, such as using and training the two-handed general skill level, but also benefits from all the one-handed perks that apply to one-handed swords. Specifically, its damage, weight, weapon reach, sound files, impact force, and stamina usage are all configured to one-handed skill values. It also receives damage bonuses from http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Fortify_One-handed enchantments on the player's gear."
