I put this in spoilers in case people hadn't discovered some of the shouts I'm going to talk about.
First time around Skyrim I didn't make much use of the shouts.
This time (and with the aid of a mod to spend dragon souls to shorten shout recovery and increase some shout power) I've been enjoying them a lot more. I used some I hadn't even touched before.
It's fun to encase your opponent in ice and watch them toppling gracefully off a cliff ledge or to speed the process up by blasting them off with unrelenting force. I never tire of seeing Draugr Overlords cartwheeling across a dungeon and slumping in a heap among the chaos of scattered urns, linen wraps and everything else that used to be on the shelves. I giggle like a lunatic every time!
As I'm writing, I can think of others that I like too. Marked for death is funny. So is fire breath, especially when the victim says something like: "I would finish you...if only I could stand up," as they're squatting panting on the ground.
At the moment, though, if the circumstances permit (outside with a big patch of open ground available), my vote is for 'Summon Durnhevir', especially when the enemies are many and close together like at one of the defeated army's camps. He's awesome, hitting them with pin-point accuracy and with a marked for death shout that makes mine look feeble. Either that or he toasts them. When the going gets really rough he summons wrathmen and bonemen from the Soul Cairn, several at a time...mages would just love to be able to summon more than two un-dead at once. On top of this, he is so courteous and tells you how much stronger and happier he is to be released for a time.
After each battle, I watch him circling gracefully in the sky and singing. I gaze at him not with envy but with shared joy and brotherhood.
Wow...he's one cool guy!
What's your favourite shout and why?
