Cait.. (quest spoiler)

Post » Fri Mar 11, 2016 4:09 am

I have a great time rolling trough the wastes with my crazy drug pumping raider character along with cait on my side, and out of nothing she asks me about helping her with her drug addiction. Is the only way to keep her on drugs by not doing her quest? I still want to 'romance' her (just to see the outcome), but is there going to be a hard dialogue check to keep her a junkie? Or is this quest streamlined as well? :(

If you HAVE to get her off addiction, I'll just save before doing so and see what happens, then reload and play without finishing her quest. My characer definetly wont stop using and I dont want Cait to hate me for doing some jet.

Yeah it's a shame. Just like in real life after rehab she becomes an unbearable nagging bore.

Agreed. It really rather svcks that a supposed RPG limits your choice this much. I'm not that fond of the "all drugs are BAD, mkay?" implication, either.

I'm immune to addition, Lady! Shut it!

Uh, do none of you get the point? She's trying to stay off the drugs because they were killing her. Half of the rhetoric is her reminding herself to stay as far away from the chems as possible, and she has the right to be pissed if she catches you using them. After all you've done to help her go clean, you're now taking them?

Yeah, I figured it out and haven't helped her yet. I will not cure her addiction and I'm 100% sure she won't die because of it :P

Sure, I get the point. But as an RPG, I'd like to be able to choose to keep feeding her drugs until she does die (like a certain someone else). Or help her get whatever it is that makes ME immune to addiction. Or whatever.

Even from a non-RPG standpoint it's still annoying because the things she likes in the first half of playing with her - the things for which you are presumably keeping her around - changes to something she dislikes. It would be like if there were a quest to help Strong find the milk of human kindness, after which he no longer liked you smashing things. ;)

I don't know in my experience when your role playing you do not get to choose how the rest of the cast reacts..... Unless you pay a lot of money, and then it is only legal in certain places.... NO wait.

( I do hear what your saying but thats like be able to talk Hancock into being sober, Or Danse to Hate the BOS or Deacon into uhhh not lieing, way to paper doll for me. And Paper dolls are cool :P asides we have settlers for that sort of. I actually liked this bit of her character its too bad the change was not a bit more severe as asides from drugs shes still pretty rutheless.... Then again thats my kind of gal)

Is there a amount of time you have the quest and then she dies? I was running with her, had the quest to take her to a vault in que but did some other things first. Then poof she was gone. I went to the vault to look for her and now instead of a quest to bring her to the vault I have a quest to talk to her. I have no idea where to look for her.

You also won't be able to romance her if you don't complete her personal quest.

Well if you cure her of her addiction she will give you a bit of lip if you use drugs in front of her.

Booze doesn't bother her and she still doesn't mind murder and stealing.

One possibility is that you use behind her back.

I have her as a companion and very rarely use drugs but do use a lot of booze.

She's still great fun.

Maybe I'll cure it sometime as I figured out how I'll roleplay it. My character uses a lot of buffjet and other mixed drugs, so someday he'll get the same thoughts cait has and they'll both stop. But since it's my first fallout build ever that uses a lot of dope, he'll come back to it. It sure is fun in F4.

Cure her and then keep using chems... then after she dislikes it, just pick a few locks, she'll get over it. lol

I'll be honest, I don't see much difference between her being clean, and her being on the horse. She's still pretty snarky.

Plus my character is too much of a Goody to keep a roving buddy on drugs. At least dangerously. We're talking about a guy who buddies up with Hancock and goes "I got 20 Jet and some Daytripper. I say we take it all and see where we wake up, person with the most clothes still on when we sober up wins."

But really dangerous, life threatening addiction? Especially Psycho? Yeah, that's not a good high...Gotta manage your high, as Kevin Smith says. Whatever gets you through the day, but man, don't let that stuff take control.
