"Kill Raiders in Drug Den"

Post » Sat Mar 12, 2016 10:13 am

I've just got this objective from Roger Warwick at the Warwick Homestead. The thing is, it gives no waypoint at all and I know of no such marked location on the map.

I checked the Wiki and went to the "Drug Den" just North of Weatherby Savings and Loan and found that I had already cleared it out. I killed the 1 Raider Veteran inside and the 1 Raider Veteran on the roof and nothing updated.

I'm stuck and I have no idea how to fix it. Worse still, this'll be the fourth Settlement that I'll have "failed" a mission for if I cannot complete it and all of these are due to glitches.

I'm getting kinda tired of this tbh and I'm on Xbox One btw.

Any help would be appreciated.

There should be 3-4 raiders inside, sometimes they respawn weird and look like corpses.

I shot the heads off of every corpse inside for good measure. Sadly, nothing changed. :/

I'll check again though.

I really hope someone makes a mod that highlight every piece of junk on the ground or living target (including robots etc). I could really use something like that to help me notice things that blend into the browns and grays of the wasteland.

If you are doing repeatable quest to kill all super mutant or raiders in certain area for settlers, there is absolutely no penalty for not being able to complete it due to key enemy not spawning properly.

Just let that one rot... and eventually it will fail and you will be able to get new quest.

It svcks, but it`s no major issue and no point sweating about it.

Man you think that's annoying?

MILA sent me on a quest to clear out a place of supermutants. But I had already cleared that place once before, I guess? And so it had respawned, so killed them all again, but my quest marker is still saying "Clear out area".

No consequences for failing that one- just a little lost XP & time.

Those clear out the area quests really mean kill one specific enemy. It's weird he doesn't have a quest marker on the radar.

As far I am aware, you will never be able to achieve maximum Happiness in any Settlement where you have failed a Quest for them, and each successive failure further reduces the Happiness cap.

I cannot get any Settlers to turn up to Tenpines Bluff ever since I failed that Hostage Quest (I genuinely forgot the guy got taken) and I pretty much haven't been back to The Slog ever since that "Kill all Super Mutants at Medford Memorial Hospital" glitched on me and I failed that.

Point being, Warwick Homestead is an important Settlement due to placement and I have 6(?) Settlers there (I'll have more once I set up the Provisioner and extra guards). Failing this does have repercussions and I'd love to know if there's any workaround I can do.

How so? I'm asking because this failure rate is definitely too high as I also play on the XBox One and have gone through two characters.

Warwick is glitched and it's my guess it has to do with the Atom Cats quest. On my first character, I found the settlement first, then cleared out a nearby mutant horde. No problems.

On this character, I can't even get a quest to start by talking to everyone in the compound. Preston hasn't even mentioned the settlement. The big difference is I did the Atom Cats quest first.

I don't know if there's a flag to render Warwick "completed" or not, but at this stage, I stopped giving a damn. It'll come around at some point through Preston's never ending quest giving, so it's just a matter of patience.

This is the only settlement that gave me problems, so that's why I'm concerned for your issue. Are you absolutely sure you're not failing because you've allowed too much time to pass? Fast traveling will speed up the clock, and you don't really have that much time to help them.

As stated above, let it fail, then try again. If you experience this with other settlements, there's something bigger wrong with your game.

I've only ever had this one playthrough and everything I've mentioned has happened on this file. I'm roughly 320 hours in btw.

Warwick Homestead has had a Happiness issue for some time and only after I got The Castle up and running, did I receive the Quest.

As for getting The Castle up and running, I only did that to partner up with Preston to farm him for likes and get his Perk. I had no intention of setting up The Castle prior to that and it only appears to have made my game much worse as a result.

Also, as I stated earlier, I have cleared out the "Drug Den" on one previous occasion and some of those corpses were still there when I went back for this Quest. I cleared it out some 150 - 200 hours earlier, and that's real life hours, so you can imagine how long it must've been in-game.

And I never fast travel. Ever.

I'm trying to understand what you mean by this. If you've an issue with a quest that has saved itself over 300 hours, you may not have the ability to correct the issue.

When you don't get a quest marker, that's an indication your target no longer exists. Shockingly, it can even happen while you're on your way to a quest. I remember going after a Raider settlement only to arrive moments too late as a Deathclaw took them out. It was the first time I ever saw a quest marker disappear from my compass map while I was there. Pretty incredible, actually.

Here's something you can try. Head back to Sanctuary (just to be safe) and find a chair. Then:

-Find a seat and wait 24 hours.

-Get up, walk about a minute, then save the game.

-Repeat these steps 2 more times.

This forces the game's "3 day cycle" reset (walking between waits prevents the game from crashing doing consecutive saves). Then, make your way back to WH. The quest should have failed by now and you should be set to get another.

The target should be different than the drug den. Rarely does the game resend a player to the same area twice unless the area is scripted. If you don't receive a quest marker this time, then I'd say you definitely have a glitch that's followed you over all these saves and hours.

Not sure what could be done at this point to fix it, so the only thing I could say is to ignore it, svcky as that is.

"Clear the area" quests often tell you to kill ONE certain npc. It's not even need to be boss or any important NPC. They are fixed. Always the same. If you happens to kill them before getting the quest, you need to wait until they spawn again or fail the quest. There are some few quests that let you "I already cleared the [location]" and quest done - ok. Pay attention where the quest locations are and stay away from these until you get the quest. Not sure, save, close game, use wiki to lookup and see if the location(s) is/are a part of a qest or not and reload the game again. They who do MM settlement quests ("Elvis" Preston/radio guy) should be aware that some other factions also share the same quest objects and so do two other factions.

Cheers,

-Klevs
