yeah, exactly, at some point in the last Railroad story mission as a companion he changes his outfit to nothing and runs through the institute in his underwear

I gave him a courser outfit just to keep him covered.

He likes to match his outfit to the surroundings. Maybe he was "matching the gorillas outfit" I never took him in robotics where there are freshly produced (naked) synths.
