So what did you think of the Robotics lab in the Institute?

Post » Sun Mar 13, 2016 7:07 pm

Glory wasn't lying when she said she saw how G3's are assembled. I gotta say, I was pretty impressed when I first walked in that lab and saw what was going on. So much going o with that machine whirling around and trying to eavesdrop on the squabble between the doctors. Bethesda did a great job on that part with the level of detail, actually showing you in detail how synths are created. All down to the fresh pair of waterproof underwear each male synth has when they are lifted out of the liquid pool, lol.

I was impressed at first but then I was like "too bad I'm going to kill most of you guys"

I thought it was really cool myself.

My first was though man there churnering them fast (I would have thought it would be well a lot slower process- ehh just me being nitpicky though_)

quickly followed by second thought of How cool would it be if you had the Cannibal perk , for the SS to commit a major blunder, and shocking Fathers buddies, by taking a big ole drink of the synth slushy and comment about how its not quite as good as "real homemade".

Talk about about a sausage fest. Where's the female synths. Should've randomized it a bit, they all look the same. Plus where do they end up never see any looking like that out and about? It churns em out every couple minutes round the clock, that's a ton of synths. I could use those guys with the synth grenades those gen 1 synths fall down and they break.

It's smaller than I expected. In fact, the whole Institute is smaller than I expected.

I'm disappointed that the only thing Robotics is making and advancing are Synths. Why not also have people working on something more useful for combat? Like Sentry Bots. Why hasn't the Institute done any projects on Sentry Bots? That **** would be awesome and useful.

They did, you see this in the "Old Robotics" section in the BoS stroyline.

The whole point of synths was that they had maxed out all the older pre-war robots capabilities, but still wanted BETTER servants, so they went with synths who had the full range of human motions and far greater thinking power then pre-war robots.

There is frankly no need for pre-war robots anymore, synths do everything they did... and better.

Pretty cool, but now it's blown to bits, so....

Kinda of strange seeing them be fullyour functional immediately after getting off the assembly station though.

I dunno, I once saw a Courser get absolutely wrecked by an Assaultron once.

I actually found out about the Old Robotics section shorty after posting and used console commands to go explore it. Now I'm wondering why they have had such a huge area go to waste instead of re-purposing it since I doubt it's as controversial as the FEV lab.

Wait, you're telling me Synths have built-in miniguns, mortars on their back, and a self destruct the size of a mini nuke? With all of them being better than a Sentry Bot's? They've just been hiding it the entire time? Dang, those scoundrels! They really should activate those features since I've seen Synths getting wrecked by Assaultrons and Sentry Bots.

You probably haven't noticed the fact that Gen-3 Synths are produced at a rate of 1 every 1.5 minutes. The Institute produces Synths in great enough numbers that 1 on 1 individual fights are meaningless. They swarm their enemies with Synths like a zerg hive. A single Synth vs. a single sentry bot will result in the sentry bots victory. How about 20 Synths vs. a single Sentry bot?

Sentry bots are big, bulky, stupid, and require a source of fuel to keep going. Not to mention being prone to overheating and eventual explosion. And probably require much more resources to produce and maintain.

Gen-1, Gen-2, and Gen-3's Synths are easily more mobile, easier to produce, and are comparable to humans (but better, considering the lack of needing food, sleep, or drink along with increased strength and resistances) as foot soldiers. They're like NCR servicemen, only The Institute can pump out platoons of them a day without fail.

I really hope we can make our own synths in the Automatron DLC.

Because The Institute has massive power limitations already, let alone with trying to rebuild and reactive what is apparently a very old part of the pre-war CIT facility.

Lol, my thoughts exactly. Bethesda could have easily randomized one or two variations of both male and female synths. Maybe after the synths leave the machine, they go through reconstructive face surgery since some of them will replace actual people. I imagine it would slow down G3 production time if every synth manufactured had a different face. It would have been even more sweet to see the combat raining the coursers endure, but I give Bethesda props for actually showing what's going on instead of us reading about it in a terminal entry or just taking Glory's word for it. I hope to see more of this visual story telling in TES VI.

It would be easiest to make one that is all the same. Maybe the "processing" that they go into is the final touches or the "spray booth" like an automobile assembly line. Though still wonder, since the gen 3's are indistinguishable from real humans. Do the "unmentionables" get added later? Humans all start out as female when we are "being made". So the institute does it opposite? Guess they don't get that deep into it.

Well maybe, since the game seems to be stuck on the same day (even though time is passing). Maybe its a male day and females are on another day.

Think it's silly and kind of over-powered frankly. Bethesda did such a good job in Fallout 3 of coming up with new robot designs that fit the setting and updating all of the old models to the game. Then they made Generation 3 Synths that are literally artificially constructed human-beings like something more out of Cyberpunk than Fallout.
