Bear with me for a moment and I'll explain what I mean by the title of this thread.
In Skyrim, we rather quickly get into the special shouting ability. Sure, it starts with just the simple 'Fus', but rather early in the game you do get the full shout (it's pretty easy to get it even before you reach level 10.)
The Shout ability was a GLLLOOORRRIIIOOUUSS thing. It was a devastating weapon that I could call on in a last resort in a dire situation. It made me as the PC always feel kind of 'special' and unique in the game setting.
No such feeling of specialness was evident in Morrowind or Oblivion. Sure, you're a figure of Prophecy and Destiny, but it's not obvious even to your character that you're really anything special compared to any guy in the street. You are, in other words, still human, whereas the Dovakhin/Dragonborn character 'feels' somewhat Super-human.
If ES6 does not provide some sort of similar experience for players, it could be problematic. Granted, the great majority of RPG players are used to developing characters who are in all respects human and a portion of them would dismiss such concerns. But the Dragonborn is different and quite addictive because of it and it would be risky for the devs to disregard this.
There is the real possibility that if Bethesda doesn't offer something to the PC that is roughly as exciting as the Thu'um and is, in effect, a power innate to that character which renders him more than human, a very considerable number of players - most especially those who were introduced to ES only with Skyrim - may feel very let down and generate a negative impression in the wider gaming community upon release.
So:
In each province that is a candidate for the next game, what could that superhuman ability be?
As an example: I would guess that in Hammerfell somebody who had a supernatural talent for sword-singing would be such a character.
Perhaps the hist sap can convey something unique to the PC for a Black Marsh game.
But the other provinces such as Valenwood, Elsweyr, Summerset and High Rock???
I would love to hear other contributor's thoughts on this.
