True about cloud-save

I lost my vault (boosted by buyed lunchboxes) before half a year due to mobile phone crashes. Answer from Bethesda support was "sorry, game has offline save".

I decided to install Android emulator AndyWin into my PC and play Fallout shelter. I ends with creating backups when they update game with cloud-save. Wow, finally something, finally online save which can be restored.

Now, after half a year, when i boost 100+ dwellers' SPECIAL into "all 10", with lots of legendary weapons and outfits, with lots of coins and fully builded vauilt, my AndyWin crashed during upgrading and i had to use that 6-month old backup for restore. And Fallout shelter save file? Sure, loaded the old poor vault from 6-month past.

So my 6-month progress is away. And answer from Bethesda? "Try update game, try reboot device and check if you not altered the system clock. If this not help, sorry, you lost your vault."

So stop thinking that cloud-save can save your vault. If you have bad luck, you will lost all. :(

This game is great, but not for me. No more starts from begining.

So far I've had a good experience with cloud save - I do play the same vaults on more than one device and the cloud save is retrieved no matter what I play on - so far I've had no problems but you do have to check cloud service to use it.

That being said - do not expect your device back up to be accurate - andy does not back up regularly you have to do an andy back up on your own - don't rely on Bethesda to do it either - whatever you play on creates a saved data file every time you leave the game - you can go into your devices data files and save your information elsewhere to be restored later - make a habit of doing it everyday or once a week or whatever makes you feel comfortable so that you always have your information.

Cloud save on Fallout Shelter is really tricky, you must be patient and remain calm when something messes up your game save. That happened to me last week, and i was totally desperate over losing months of attention to gameplay.

Maybe, what happened was that you saved your game, but you didn't truly load your google play account. Once you log into the game, the notification of GPG has to be shown to you; if it does not show, click on the Achievements button on options menu (on left side/middle button on Daily reward section)
