Which warrior styles do you use at higher difficulties

I have tried many times to start playing high difficulty from the start (like legendary), it didnt seem challenging, i was just getting one shoted unless i grinded hard and use cheap tactics like hit and run for 20 mins to kill a bandit leader, no fun, no real challenge.

So after a pause, i have started playing in expert/master. I wanted to feel epic and in the same time humble and simple. Not super duper mega sneaky warrior with conjuration.

I use warrior set up, with some basic magic support (heal and enchanting) and went for shield and sword ( i like block a lot). What i dont get is, why i have one handed 53 lvl, with 3 points in first perk and still when i bump to a very strong enemy, greatsword +0 barbarian (similar weapon) does the job better.

I had some difficulties in stronger enemies, and my 2 handed went from 15 lvl to 28 just because my +3 armsman one handed does pathetic damage.

I know with mass enchanting and smithing this changes but game isnt only when you are full strong.

DO you find yourself beating people easier in higher difficulties with 2 handed rather than 1 handed.

I know, realistically it makes sense, when you have a longer weapon, you control the fight better even in close quarters and it requires relative less skill since you have more safety distance. But...i sink points in 1 handed and its a joke...
