Important Far Harbor puzzle

When we travel to Far Harbor, what on earth will happen with settlement attacks while we're away? Wonder if we'll be able to assign companions to take over this role of defending our bases. If not, will attacks just miraculously stop during this time? or will we return to ruins? From a roleplaying point of view this is important.

A] everything "freezes" on one map while you're on the other


Or


B] once you go to far harbour you can fast travel back and forth between the maps and so if say a vanilla map settlement attack happens you just fast travel to it.

What about in the new survival mode? Fast travel is being taken away, so now we will be forced to walk. How do you defend a settlement if you gotta walk 10min to get there

True, guess they go for the "freeze" option, that or it becomes even more important to have defenses set in place.

I'd imagine it would work the same way it does now. So far, If I don't fast travel to a settlement that "has been attacked," the attack starts when or shortly after I arrive after walking from Quincy. If I fast travel, the attack starts when, or shortly after, I arrive.

If I remember rightly the FO:3 dlc content - barring Broken Steel - was in a different location (Mothership Zeta in space, Point Look Out at Point Look State Park out amazingly and The Pit in Pittsburgh.



So I reckon you'll travel to Far Harbour (by ship I presume - just like Point Lookout) and the game state in the Commonwealth will be frozen till you return from Far Harbour.

I agree, the main game would almost assuredly be in a frozen state until you return. My hope is that it will be similar to Honest Hearts from FNOV, in that once you are there, you have to complete it, that there will be no jumping back and forth to the main game/map. Maybe your ship blows up upon arrival, and part of the quest would be to find a new ship. Also, I'm hoping that we will be able to take our current companion with us.
