GATGERING POINTS FOR SETTLERS = BETTER IMMERSION

Post » Thu Mar 17, 2016 9:15 pm

$*DEVS, if there is a better place to post this please provide url for repost! Thanks!*$

First time poster, this idea is just so necessary to be heard I had to make an account. Before you bash on my "originality"being nill, I know this probably isn't a new concept of desire to anyone playing fallout 4, we've all thought about out I'm sure! I just want to get my ideas out there and hear yours.hopefully the devs will catch this one! -or are working on it now!- :)

So my idea is to add a sort of "waypoint" (like the fast travel one) into the workshop mode. These waypoints or "gathering points" can be assigned to any number of settlers in your settlement. You could then put this waypoint somewhere in ur settlement and the assigned settlers would gather within or near.this.point.during "downtime" lets say. This is a pretty simple idea that would help extinguish the issue of settlers gathering in empty space and standing about eerily in silence. (Forgive grammer and or punctuation errors, doing this on cracked phone screeng)

Additionally.I.think you should be able to alter the diameter of the waypoint, and thus the settlers would react to any; chairs, tvs, food, tables etc... within this waypoint. That way you could in theory have a few different social groups in the same room participating in different activities!

I think a behavioral component should be added as well. Let's say you don't just want then to go to a big table when they're off work and just party. Perhaps you have a job they need to be doing when not in "off time"mode... so lets say.you have a desk at the front entrance of a settlement, and you need a receptionist. You could make a small gathering point that just includes desk and chair, and set the parameters to "work-receptionist"and the assigned settler would say things like "welcome"or "please sign the roster"all while sitting at their assigned desk like a good boy! Alternatively you could make them a guard with no chair, and they could simply stand behind the desk (or patrol.. which would be more codingj and say stuff like "move along" etc.. this wpuld.be like "work-guard"

A great idea I think. Other examples of gathering poiny order attributes are;

Gather-offtime-relax/party

Gather-offtime-eat

Gather-work-sales rep (not actually a user shop..like lets say you build your own "gift shop"and you want an attendant. [Purely immersion, no caps our resources used/gained])

I was thinking of something like this the other day as i noticed the settlers just standing still at Greentop Nursery, even though i had the whole main house done up with sofas, tables, chairs and dining area with stools. They just stand around at night and never use it. I know people will say build a bar but i dont like random bars inside houses or even outside.

Is it a bug that they dont move around at night in settlements and use the sofas/tables/chairs? Cause i figured it was just poor implementation of settlements.

I think there is a nexus mod that allows you to do this. It`s called "Busy settlers". You can build invisible rugs with it and assign settlers to them. It would be nice if they added something like this it to vanilla game. Also gathering area around bars should be a bit bigger.

Settlements should be completely overhauled.

No wonder they're even adding console modding.

I seen that mod. Im looking for 1 invisible rug that makes the settlers gather in that area and sit around on the chairs/stools/sofas.

Something like this would be nice. I built a power plant with the first floor set up as an office with a maintenance room, but it's in a part of sanctuary Noone goes to. Would be awesome to actually be able to staff it.

I've noted with seating, make sure they can get to it without obstruction - you'd be surprised how much obstructions there are from seats too close together or too near tables etc. A good test is to try it yourself, if you can't sit in them neither can your settlers.

At night my pub fills up nicely, everyone with a seat.

No... they just convinced Sony and Microsoft this time. Todd Howard's been wanting console mods since all the way back in Morrowind, and IIRC PS3 and XBox360 very nearly got them as well. Mods are coming because Todd's persistant, there's nothing more to it :)
