So, as the title says, I keep loosing my companions. I'll tell one to go to a place, like Piper to Sanctuary but when I go to find her again she's no where to be found, at all!
Is there a way to find them and if not, can there be?

Companions don't magically teleport, they have to walk there, which can take time. Have you tried travel to Sanctuary, and then dismiss her there?
Unless you are playing on PC, you can't find them as such on command. PC users can use the console command "Player.MoveTo
Yeah I travled to Sanctuary, couldn't find her so went to Dimond City, nothing, travled back to Sanctuary and again, nothing...
What I meant, was dismissing her at Sanctuary, instead of say, dismissing her in DC. So dismissing her in Sanctuary and send her to Sanctuary, means she is already there, and shouldn't wander off. Unless your save is way back, and you are on console.
Dude I don't think he understands that the NPC literally walks back.
No I do... I teleported to Sanctuary but I walked to Dimond City than teleported back to Sanctuary. And she was let go in Something bluff... but I figured out where she went, part of a quest.
But really though, wish there was a way were we could know where our followers were because I lost cobblsworth because I sent him to some random place I forgot about... wish in the "workshops" thing there was a symbol for followers.
Also kinda wish you could send people to homeplate.

That's actually a good idea the game puts a marker down for Power Armor, so it seems reasonable to have a marker for companions after they are first hired.
Something I hadn't thought of is 'are companions essential' when they are not marked as a follower?
