Irradiated 10mm better than The Deliverer?

Post » Fri Mar 18, 2016 1:53 am

I'm a sneaky guy and I've loved using the Deliverer 10mm silenced gun throughout my Commonwealth travels.

I just found an irradiated 10mm gun that adds 50 radiation dmg on topmof the regular damage. That seems like a lot to me. After maxing the mods on the new gun to match the maxed mods on the deliverer they compare as follows:

The Deliverer

112 dmg

16 shots in VATS, for me with my skills.

Irradiated 10mm

81 dmg + 50 rad.dmg (= 131 dmg if the rads apply to the mob)

15 shots in VATS

Now here's the interesting bit. If I get the perk Nuclear Physicist, rank 2, the gun should do double rad dmg (i.e. + another 50 rad dmg)

That has to be the most awesome sneaky pistol in the game. No? Considering a sneaky, ninja and sandman build. What do you think?

I think the thing to keep in mind here is it's not effective against certain enemies. Ghouls, SM, wasteland creatures

The explosive 10mm is better than the deliverer (IMO), but the irradiated isn't effective against all enemies and the deliverer is.

U know what`s way better than either one of them?

Vats Enhanced Sniper Barrel Plasma Handgun.

It`s the ultimate side arm.

Haha, No.

But it does roughly 3-4 times more damage with superior accuracy.

It does AMAZINGLY HIGH LONG DISTANCE VATS accuracy... you probably don`t need suppressor on it.

The Irradiation prefix is one of the worst in the game.

Unless your weapon damage is actually less than the irradiation per shot, it essentially gives no extra damage. It only stops something from healing some of their health--to enemies not immune...

But how about a gamma gun with this perk?

It will do 110 energy dmg + 254 gamma(!)

You would be better off with the Wounding or Poisoner's legendary effect over the Irradiated one. Those two effects apply to every enemy except Robots. Wounding gets you, Targets bleed for 25 points of additional damage. Poisoner's does, Target is poisoned for 10 seconds. (3 points poison damage per second). Those would be ideal for a silenced 10mm.

If you know your going to be going up against Humans then Irradiated does a nice job. I use it on a fully upgraded Laser pistol when clearing Raider/Gunner camps/buildings. So I burn them on the outside with the Lasers flame effect and cook them on the inside with the radiation dose from Irradiated.

Another legendary effect I love to use is Explosive. Your bullets explode when they hit your target or another solid object. I love it since it will damage your target but it also does damage to any enemy NPC around your target. It also works when your target is hiding behind a wall. Your shot might miss but the explosion still wounds your target through the wall.

There is a draw back to Explosive though. It will kill friendly NPC's like the traveling merchants and their guards. I found this out when I took out Cricket, her Brahmin, and all her guards when shooting at a bear at the camp outside Vault 81. It will also put your companion down until they heal up again or you hit them with a Stimpack. So Explosive is best for solo play and when your know there are no friendly NPC's any where in the area.

Anyway, going back to your original question Deliverer is better especially if you use VATs.

I thought finding one is not an issue.. because we were already talking about a random drop irradiated 10mm haha

Deliverer will be best tool against raiders and ghouls as sneak handgun character.

Don`t try to use perk points to make irradiated damage better... it`s not very useful..

Unless you like Power Armor or Gatling Lasers, then totally do it as it raises fusion core duration and GL mag size!

pipe bolt action pistols have 12 shots in VATS when they're upgraded to .50 ammo they deal 198 damage so no.

even kellogs .44 deals 186 damage. Even if you had the nuclear physics perk it will be lower than kellogs.

pretty decent damage against humans without leadmods or hazmats though. Considering early game doesn't have much 0.308 or 0.44 it is a very useful pistol.

PS: Nuclear physics are very useful on very fast melee weapons or automated guns. Plus you can't crit the bonus 100 radiation damage.
