Two reasons:
1. Shots available: 71. Only 71.
2. Try using it at close quarters... they'll be picking bits of you off the walls.

I'm not saying the Fatman ain't great, but you need other toys to supplement it with.

1. The KneeCapper, I loved running through Enclave base and just shooting them in the head and killing them all in one shot...
2. Fatman, even though I always svcked with it.... ...
3. Missle launcher, shooting raiders in the head with it was always fun XD.

My all-time favourite weapon is the Backwater Rifle. I know, Lincoln's Repeater is better and all that, but the Backwater Rifle has a critical multiplier of x5! And 10mm rounds are very easy to find, unlike the .44 magnum rounds used by Lincoln's Repeater. You can also make 7.5 times as many of them with the Ammo Press. The only downside is that you have to use Lever-Action Rifles to repair it. But lots and lots of them can be found in Point Lookout, so no problem there.

If I'm not running around with the Backwater Rifle, I'm most likely burning people with my Heavy Incinerator! It does great damage while preserving ammo very well. They are scarce, but they are worth it! I can still remember my first HI... I found a Hellfire trooper somewhere, and I couldn't understand what that weapon he had was. I had never seen anything like it. I picked it up and forgot about it. Later, after dropping off my loot at my house in Megaton, I tried it just outside My Megaton House. I just couldn't believe how awesome it was!

me love one shot weapons, so my top favourite is

TESLA CANNON. its like a missle launcher, but with electricty.

my other favourites

backwater rifle, its strong, its accurate, and i cant go 5 steps without tripping over the ammo.

my 2nd top favourite. shoots really fast and leaves a big mess

gatling laser, the albino killer, the reaver ahniliator, the overlord overkill! its awsome!

the only flaw, the thing burns up ammo like the 4th of the july,

my HATED weapon

For Xbox my favorite weapons are
Long Range: Lever Action Rifle (Point Lookout by the time i found out about Lincoln's Repeater the museum was full of reavers)
Short Range: Double Barrel Shotgun (Point Lookout someday i might clear out Evergreen Mills and get the Terrible Shotgun)
Melee: Jingwei's Shocksword (O.A. Does it really need an explanation)
For PC however they are
Long Range: M16A2 (Mod Just an epic Gun)
Short Range: Uzi (Mod How can you be wrong with that much lead delivery)
Melee: Lightsaber (Mod its just fun)

I have a soft spot for the Tri-Beam Laser Rifle... I just love it. :fallout:

I love the Heavy incinerator and the flamer as I love burning enemies :flamethrower: :flamethrower:

I have a soft spot for the Gauss Rifle. I love the sniping ability, sound, and knockback effect. Nothing quite like watching a raider's head explode in VATS and his body go spinning through the air from 100 miles away after hearing that loud CHA-CHING! I love it!

Shishkabob I love burning people, what can I say.

Deathclaw gauntlet, with the armor penetration, crit multiplier and damage it is THE close range assassin weapon.
