Doors will fit in pre-existing doorways now!

Post » Sat Mar 19, 2016 5:17 pm

I was excited to find that the update brought the ability to fit the doors in workshop mode into the pre-existing doorways. Not -all- doorways though.

I only tested the ones in Sanctuary. I got the doors to fit on the one in the video and the empty doorway on SS house, on the side where the carport is.

Maybe next update will let them fit ALL doorways.

I boarded up the carport side door pretty much from the off, it's bad enough as it is having fools like Garvey wander in your front door and sit on the couch like they own the place, it'd be twice as bad with more ways in...

Ive tested several places and it only seems to work on the SS's house, and the one right across from it, and nowhere else that ive seen.

I noticed this too, not all doors though.

It even let me put a door at Abernathy, where there was already a door lol. Now they have a screen door and a wooden door.

I was able to put doors on the player's house and the yellow house across from it under v1.3. Not that I should have bothered, as none of the AI ever, EVER closes a door behind them. They just fling the door open and keep going. Apparently they where all raised in barns.

The other houses in Sanctuary are mysteriously undoorable though(it's a new word!).

Sanctuary, I recycled a whole house in one go. It left just the concrete foundations,,,, which is useful I suppose for a rebuild. Other places I couldn't do that..... start with a door and build round it?

Those doors are scripted, and I wish we could place scripted doors without mods. I like doors that auto-close and lock, especially when I want settlers to stay out of my house.

Thanks for the heads up OP! I just tested this out on my base over at Taffington Boathouse. I left the default front door (as I'm sure most people do), but I scrapped that back door because it was only really half a door. Well, I just installed a nice new back door, and it seems all door options work. The only problem I ran into was that I had to find the perfect angle to stand at to get the door to snap into place, which ended up being partially in the living room with the door way out in front and to the left of me.
