Synths, bots, ghouls, survivors, abandoned vaults & bunk

You've just cleared a vault or a bunker complex, you've got a small caravan of cargo/utility bots with which to clear out and repair the facility and build a settlement topside to raise crops for trade with other settlements. What else would you like to be able to do?

I would like to be able to occupy and clean up an abandoned or recently cleared vault or bunker complex, and have my utility bots clear out the dead, scrap everything not worth saluaging, and start repairing the facility. Help set up a settlement to grow crops and trade with other settlements.

I would like to be able to populate my vault/vaults with synths, ghouls, institute survivors, motivated settlers, and persons who might have some physical attribute or attributes (shot off /blown off/ rotted off limbs etc) that make life extra hard in a lot of situations topside. Depending on their needs provide them some of the best training, education and if needed prosthesis available in the waste land.

I would like to train beings that bring a skill or trade, or who are willing to learn a skill or trade from an ever patient ever available teaching bot, or two and offer them a chance to join my settlement.

I’d like to be able to give a ghoul born pre war a chance to get or build upon pre war technical skills there hasn’t been a call for in a long time. They can put their new knowledge in a context others cannot.

I would like to give ghouls with generations of experience at a skill or trade, the training to teach it. I would like to be able to offer tinkers like Sturgis the training to teach, both people and tutor bots.

I would like to give someone like Tinker Tom addictol; and a chance to be less of a stoned joke, and more of a teacher of people and tutor bots.

To really improve a person’s life, help them learn a useful skill, a trade, provide them the means to the education and experience to earn a good living, and be valuable to others.

Maybe learn to build needed advanced prosthesis for victims of mines, booby traps, and dangerous wildlife. You can still fight evil with weapons, but you can also help spread knowledge to give the populace better options to survive and thrive.

Learn a trade or skill and how to teach it to others, maybe how to refurbish, build, and reprogram bots like protectrons and Handy bots to patiently help others tutor students at a settlement school you help establish.

I would absolutely love to make a settlement of a decrepit Vault. Have quests to get parts to get the systems back online slowly, one at a time. Clear collapsed sections and rebuild them cavern-style where broken with wooden supports and such.

I would absolutely love something like that someday. Perhaps one of the future DLC will feature something akin to it; they did say Far Harbor would have new settlements.

I would hope the Automaton DLC gives us the means to build and mod bots to credibly repair vaults and bunkers and modders the ability to use them in the game.

If enough of us express interest it may come to be, there are enough examples of having our wishes granted if enough of us ask for something reasonable.

A prewar survivor makes very credible a strong motivation to restore what that person once knew, and the knowledge and experience to know in detail how what worked, as opposed to someone who can only take stabbing guesses at what might have been. Having fresh and clear in mind the value of a technical education, and how to serve and help get back on their feet the survivors and casualties of major disasters, using modern technology.

A sole survivor probably has fresh in mind an idea how a survivor of the war might have been before the war, and before being turned into a ghoul or super mutant. A sole survivor might not be so hardened to the casualties of the war forced into existence as a ghoul or super mutant, and might also have a powerful appreciation of the need for educated people to undo the primitive conditions under which so many now live.
