Custom Survival.

It would be nice if you could customize your survival mode. Like turn on eating and sleeping but turn off sleep to save. I want to play survival but not if it means sleep to save, because I am not going to spend an hour on one mission only to get back to a settlement and there be some kind of stupid glitch or bug happen that possibly kills me only to lose an hour of gameplay that wasnt even my fault. All I want is sleep and eat feature with the regular Survival Difficulty setting. Maybe even ammo weight just to add effect.

I agree why is this not 'a thing' feels like control and various options over the mode would only make us all happier with our survival experience.

Oh man, another one of these? Pretty much everything that will be said has been said.

I am not going to oppose toggles for everything, but the only ones I really care about are the sleep save and to a lesser extent the fast travel one.

Given how often my game crashes I won't be playing survival if it's "Sleep to Save" because I'll be damned if I can't save every 5 minute to prevent losing my progress.

There are already several threads discussing these topics, so this one is likely to get closed.

That said, I'd like to see sleep-saves be optional. The rest I think should be required. I want manual saves primarily because of the number of glitches and CTDs that I've experienced with the game. I don't want to lose my last hour of progress because the game crashed and I haven't slept. I think manual saves should be allowed, but in the event of death the saves should roll back to your last sleep-save. I want survival mode to inconvenience my character, but I don't want it to inconvenience me as a player. Restricting manual saves is only going to inconvenience me as a player. It's not going to help me get more immersed in the game.

If it isn't made into an option, then there will be a mod on the Nexus adding manual saves back within an hour of survival mode being released anyway. It makes more sense to just make it optional to me.

I can kind of see an argument for wanting fast travel, but I think that should be disabled as well. Realistically, it's only for the early part of the game. Once you start joining factions you'll get the vertibird signal grenades from the BOS and access to the molecular relay from the Institute. If you destroy both the Institute and the BOS, either the Railroad or the Minutemen will have vertibird signal grenades for you to use. 'Fast travel' will still be in the game, but it's going to be a mechanic that you actually have to earn, rather than something that you can just do without any kind of lore explanation.

I would keep on sleep to save but turn off the all too fixable modes. I want true setbacks, not placebocore like we got in NV.

I like "save scumming" when I'm building a settlement. You know, there's this one wall piece, its in a pretty good position, but maybe I can try improve it just a little a bit without rekting the whole structure of my settlement. And if I do happen to rekt it, I can go back to an old save...

Oh wait, now I have to nap to do that. Laaaaaaammme.

Hmm, the best solution would be to split Survival into two modes, so you'd have:

- Normal Game

- Survival Mode

- Custom Survival

That way, those who want a monolithic unchangeable mode by which to prove ones self could play Survival Mode, while those who just want to enjoy the features from Survival they enjoy and toggle the others off could play Custom Survival. Aside from the odd one off wally trying to make out he's "hardcoe" by posting evidence of a Custom Survival run in a Survival Mode thread to spark arguments (which people who want such a mode pretty much wouldn't be interested in doing anyway), everyone's happy.

To be honest I can't see Bethesda doing this, so if options aren't available we could wind up having to wait for various mods that replicate the Survival Mode features, at which we could choose which to install and enable - so the Custom Survival will arrive sooner or later naturally in any case. If there are no options or toggles, that's just how I'm going to look at it - that Survival might as well enforce all these restrictions and do it's own thing anyway if we're still going to be able to do what we want sooner or later down the line.

Yeah, game crashing and graphics corruption happening constantly will prevent me from using it as well.

I take it that hasn't been changed yet then? Would explain why I can still save wherever I want and fast travel still. Thought it was being changed with 1.4, unless that's not live on console yet?

Same for me , the game is unstable on PS4 more than I thought it would .

Other day I lost an hour of building because I was messing around with my 39 people settlement (Bunker Hill) ... ok part on this crash is my fault I guess?
