Threads that break the forum rules get locked, thats not ground breaking news, maybe you should read the rules, and yes this thread does break the forum rules.

If they get off topic, and they usually do when people start attacking each others comments more than contributing, yes they do it to stop that nonsense.

You posted a topic that while it didn't exactly start that way (Though much of your post was fairly close was bound to go firmly in the direction of a platform war. That's the main reason it was locked.

But yeah, talking about locked topics and questioning moderator action are both detail in the rules that you agreed to. And 'Freedom of Speech' doesn't apply to a private forum.

People probably don't know what the topic I'm refering to is. Clearly, cause half of you talking like I murdered someone or something rofl. I didn't "break" any rules.

It was a topic about people always calling out PC users and being judgemental because apparently it's offensive & illegal to run F4 on a pc XD

Legit no shots were fired & it was a call to calm people down. Then irony hit the fan & people were saying "it was provoking" wth. People this generation are literally provoked, triggered & whatever the [censored]ered non-stop for no reason.

Congress does not run these forums; your "freedom of speech" claim has no bearing.

If no rule is broken you shouldn't lock a topic, it is simple as that. Literally no harmful things were said in that topic & there was a lot of "trying to explain something". Literally everyday there is some kid raging against pc users in this forum, what are they going to do? Lock all topics? Literally every other topic gonna get locked cause 1 kid ruins it for all the others.

Well there's rule #9:

Although i'm sure that they'll happily accept PMs to address the problem. It's just not really appropriate to create a thread on the issue, especially when it doesn't pertain to the forum.

I read that thread and I only play on PC (Last console I ever owned was a SNES) and even I facepalmed and could see the direction that thread was going to go from the first post.

Also, there are just as many thread locked about Pc users raging against 'dumb console users' and 'casuals'. So, it's not like they picked on you. You may not have intended to insult anyone with your thread, but those kind of threads quickly attract the extreme ends of both sides.

On basically every forum I've ever been on, posting complaints about the mods has been a guaranteed lock. So it's pretty silly to do.

Also, "freedom of speech" has nothing to do with privately owned forums ("forum" in the grand sense, not internet discussion forum. Stage, auditorium, newspaper, etc). The owners of the place have the right to control it - which you agreed to when you created your account.

tl;dr - nothing to see here folks

edit: and yeah, your previous thread started with "Okay, you can stop now with the crying...." and went downhill from there. It was a rant & an invitation to platform war/arguement/flaming/trolling. It was pretty obvious it was going to be locked before I got two paragraphs in.

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Hate to break it to you, but the first amendment only applies to the US government attempting to control free speech; not privately owned forums.

Read the rules and follow them. If that's too difficult for you then go cry about it on Reddit.

What's even the point of making and commenting those threads? That's fine if they get closed.

Notice also that many threads get locked when they are over 200 posts but just for technical difficulties. Their discussions can continues in other new threads.

This.

If posters are reasonable and don't behave like an asshat then things go well.

In any case, a gaming forum is not a democracy, so being deprived of ranting on about 'casuals' or whatever else

is not actually a meaningful breach of 'free speech'.
