Flora Overhaul alternatives?

Post » Sun Mar 20, 2016 2:42 pm

I'm searching for a mod that changes the overall look of the nature in Skyrim.

I was only using the Skyrim Flora Overhaul so far and I'd like to see if there are any similar mods?

SFO altered the grass a bit too much for my liking, so that there was a bit of a performance loss in forest-areas.

Is there a mod that keeps the amount of grass from vanilla, but just changes the visuals of the trees and the grass to something better looking?

Is everyone still using SFO or are there other great mod alternatives? :D

and I'd also like to hear an opinion on weather mods :D

Climates of Tamriel, Purity and Vivid Weather seem to be the more-known ones... which one do you prefer? ^^

Didn't want to open another thread for this.

I use version 1.87, the basic edition of SFO and have not noticed any performance issues, although I have a decent rig that is able to run a bunch of mods like JK Skyrim without too many hiccups.

I use http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/59774/? For weather, I use Pure Weather as part of PureVision ENB (Realistic Lighting Overhaul version) requirement. That has been my favorite combos for the past year or so. For landscape textures, I use Skyrim Realistic Overhaul.

Did you already try the tweek that Vurt suggest's for less dense grass...to add FPS?

I mostly use CoT... and I have Vivid Weathers and it's very nice, but I prefer the look of some of the mods it says is incompatible right now... I have yet to try Purity, but I will eventually.

I'm not using SFO right now... but I do have it... and I will probably use it again at a latter time. I really like it.

I love SFO but am not a fan of its grass, but that's easy enough to override with any grass mod. Using the Grass and Green Fields from Enhanced Landscapes this playthrough.

As for weathers, I'm actually going with vanilla this time around and I kind of like it.

I've just tried Vivid Weathers and the Tamriel Reloaded Grasses and Trees

and I'm blown away by both mods :o

They make Skyrim look like a completely new game <3

I was used to having Climates of Tamriel for the last 100+ hours and got a bit tired of the 'washed-out' look.

Vivid brings so many new colours into the picture.

I'm really impressed to see something like this in a Non-ENB version of Skyrim :D

I'll just have to tweak the Tamriel Reloaded stuff a bit more, as it seems to be even more performance heavy than SFO.

No offense, but what's impressive with that weather?

Haven't tried Vivid Weathers as my ENB preset would have to be updated for it.

it's simply not as bleak as the two others ^^

The picture is way more clearer and you have this amazing red sunlight on the horizon

Purity looks to me the same as CoT just with more contrast and way darker nights :D

CoT has this bleak, harsh look that fits the nordic setting very well... but it gets a bit tiresome after hundreds of hours, so I feel like the vibrant Vivid is a good change

the trees and the LODs are messed up in the picture, but it's enough to notice the difference between the lighting of the three weather mods:

here's another comparisson with better LOD textures at 8AM:

'Vivid Weathers' definitely seems to make the game more vulnerable as it makes you see every single detail in the distance.

'CoT' seems to hide it better by making the distance blurry.

I also really like 'Purity' in this shot as well ^^ It kind of has the most realistic look of the three mods.

I've also tried the Flora Overhaul 2.4 and really like it more than the SFO 1.87 one.

Just unsure what Vurt means with "Please notice that this version requires a very good computer!"

It doesn't seem to have any FPS drop compared to his older versions? :/

Is the memory usage simply higher?

I believe that's due to the denser grass or it could be a combo of the tree's and grass on the tundra and the denser ? tree's period...

I know when my Nvidia card was working I could use the basic and mid versions with no FPS drop... the 2.4 had a small drop.. with my Intel card ( issues with the Nvidia card not reading) I can only use the basic version... and that with FPS in the mid to low 20's.
