They do not exist in the form we see, yet, or the power armor is fictional. The point stands, however, that lasers are not a big deal, since there are tons of other 'unrealistic' issues in the game.

That is easy and might be rather tasty. Take a laser that is used for Laser Fusion experiments and then barbeque some nice juicy steaks with it. Then take a regular industrial laser and have a barbeque with the same type of steak. The lasers used in Laser Fusion experiments last for 50 picoseconds at 500 Terawatts while standard industrial lasers used for cutting metal are in the kilowatt range and last a lot longer.

In a game where you can punch a 2-3m tall lizard mutant thing to death with a boxing glove, while high on 4 different drugs, only wearing your undies, sunglasses and a fully ballistic weave modified hat, I find Bethesdas interpretation of a laser to be fairly reasonable ??????
