Content idea: Wasteland Combat Update

Post » Tue Mar 22, 2016 9:23 am

The Wasteland Combat Update would be a themed content update, and completely free. The update would contain the following:

New weapons(pistols, rifles, melee, etc)

New mods for both new and existing weapons(Automatic .38 Receiver anyone?)

New Armors

New mods for armors

New Helmet types: Sturdy and Heavy Combat Armor Helmet, Sturdy and Heavy Metal Helmet. Standard, Sturdy, and Heavy Leather Helmet

Ability to mod the Blue Batting Helmet, Vault-Tec Security helmet, Army Helmet and Dirty Army Helmet.

Extra mod options for Metal Helmet and Combat Armor Helmet

Craftable ammo types

New enemies types

The Weapons, armors and ammo types would be added to the world, as well as weapon and armor vendors. The ammo crafting would be done at the weapon bench(I don't see a reason for adding another bench for the sole purpose of reloading ammo).

YES. Hopefully they'll have an update similar to the one they had for skyrim with the new killcams, because at the moment we have no killing animations or counter attack animations for deathclaws or any wasteland creatures which is really lazy because if you try to melee counter a deathclaw or ghoul you'll play a broken animation because the mechanic is in place but they don't have anything coded for the enemies at least thats what it seems to me, I miss the cool kill moves from skyrim like cutting a giant's leg down and then decapitating him in one move, or jumping on a dragon and stabbing it's head, we need some crazy action like that in fall out 4! I want to be able to strangle a death claw or punch the head off of a ghoul or something with the behemoth where I can like kneecap him and then stab him in the face when he takes a knee. They've done this in skyrim I don't know why they didn't bring it over. It's something that's highly requested for melee and unarmed playthroughs

-New Silent Weapons:

Crossbows

Throwing Knives

Stun Genades

-Also, make some of the Ammo a little easier to get:

Either Cheeper or More amount when sold

More higher chance to get it in loot

To the Ammo crafting:

-Certain guns have a 100% bullet casing drop:

Revolvers (pockets and emptying chamber, think about it)

Who doesn't like free stuff, eh?

Unless it's total crap, in which case I wouldn't even take it for free.

But that happens every month on Games with Gold for me, so I'd be happy to have something decent for a change.

Well they said they wanted to do some free content updates. This would certainly seed some good feels amongst the community :D Not likely to happen though.

Essentially. I got this idea from Minecraft funnily enough. Every time a major update comes out for Minecraft, it's given a theme. Their most recent update, 1.9, was titled the Combat Update. The Combat Update made some major changes to the game and new stuff was added.

Just came up with some new ideas:

Ability to mod outfits.

Ability to scrap outfits at Armor Bench(at the moment you can only scrap armor pieces at the Armor bench).

New explosive weapons:

Satchel Charge(my absolute faves in New Vegas. After I started crafting these, I stopped carrying Bottlecap Mines). The Crafting recipe would be somewhat identical to the recipe for the bottlecap mine. But instead the Vault-Tec Lunch Box would be swapped with the Military Ammo Bag.

Flash Bang

Idea from evilhelix:

New Kill animations.

Ideas from Meetra Surik:

New Silent Weapons:

Crossbow

Throwing Knives

Stun Grenade

What do people think about the return of fatigue dmg? a.k.a the non-lethal unarmed from New vegas? I always thought it was interesting and I used them in stealth play throughs

One update with meatbags poles tents isn't really what I would call content. Regardless if that and survival node are all they provide for free fair enough yet still expanding on that would still sew many seed D's of good will

That was part of a patch update. The purpose of a Content update, such as the Wasteland Combat Update, is to add new stuff to the game specifically, while leaving the patch updates to specifically focus on bug fixes and such.

It was an idea I got after reading comments from people, in a thread that was eventually locked, who didn't like the idea of paid DLC that specifically focused on adding weapons or armors to the game. And I get that, I totally do.

But at the same time, there are people, such as my self, that feel there aren't enough weapons in the game, and we would like to see more weapons and armors added in. So I thought that a Themed Content Update, such as the one suggested in this thread, would make everyone happy. It adds new stuff to the game, and Bethesda won't have to charge for it, and have members of the community lash out at them for resorting to stooping to micro-transactions. Which is what many view Wasteland Workshop as.

For a time, a lot of people saw Automatron as the same thing, except now, we know that there is a whole lot more to it than simple robot building and customization.

Not only does this do that, but as you've seen in my opening post, adding new weapons and armors is only part of it. I took that initial idea, and expanded on it as much as I could, and some forum members pitched in with their ideas, which I think, are really good.

I agree.

Wasteland Workshop, Automatron just feel like cheap Extras they wanted to put in, not worth the DLC title if you ask me.

Now, as for combat, I want to see a legit cover system. Apparently it's there, but svcks and can only be done in First Person. In my opinion, they should take a card from Resident Evil: Operation Racoon City (a grat game, you should check it out if you haven't). The cover system in that is what I want to see in Fallout 4, AM I RIGHT?

New idea:

Ability to learn a Legendary effect when you break down a Legendary weapon or armor piece(I mean you could learn an enchantment when you broke down an enchanted weapon in Skyrim right? So why could you not do something similar here?).
