Remember state when fast traveling

Post » Tue Mar 22, 2016 5:43 pm

So, my dude is all abouth stealth. I have all the stealth perks and stats, and a piece of Chameleon armor.

So why can't the game remember if I am sneaking or not? If I crouch, I become near invisible. But fast travel or enter a building like that, and I arrive standing up. in plain sight. This is especially fun when you fast travel to an emeny-dense area, like the Super-Duper market.

Come on Bethesda...

That's just one of the disadvantages of fast travel. If I wanna be sneaky and still use fast travel ill go somewhere not in the middle of respawns that's a little bit away. Then sneak over.

I get that the game does that sometimes but not always. I can be in sneak mode and QT to my home in Red Rocket and still be in sneak mode.

However, I think it is certainly fair that the game doesn't allow that if enemies are around. QT is supposed to be a convenience to get from one place to another, not a feature to use against your enemies.

I can understand why the fast travel plops you at the location.

If it's such a big deal, FT to the nearest settlement and sneak over...

I know I'm not a ninja or anything, but come on. I'm not even complaining for things I have to attack: I already travel to a place nearby and then sneak over. It's those occassions where you just fast travel to get somewhere and find yourself in the middle of a flock of Ferals and a Behemoth, who are at war with a group of Super Mutants.

So you think it would be fair for you to pop into the middle of a battle like that and not be noticed? Can you repeat the question?

The only other fix I can think of that Bethesda could do is simply not let you QT. Just put up a message saying, "Can Not Quick Travel There, Battle in Progress!"

I'm a sneaky sniper kind of character, and I forced myself to stop fast traveling, mainly in anticipation of the new survival mode, so I need to get used to it. I never fast-traveled in a Bethesda game before, but got in the bad habit of doing it because of all the settlement attacks (that seem to happen at the worst possible times when I've over-encumbered and on the other side of the map from the attack). The game will drop you often in the middle of a battle, standing up, no weapon equipped. Got myself killed several times doing that before I could even get a shot off, another reason I stopped fast-traveling.

If I (fast) travel in sneak mode, I arrive in sneak mode -- Every single time.

I have similar issues with the Pip Boy light. I'm getting a little annoyed at having to turn the thing back on whenever I go through a door.

Let's say I'm roaming around in the daylight with the light on, then go into a dark cave. Why does the light turn off? Obviously I'm going to just turn the thing back on - but why should I keep fiddling with it at all just to keep the thing on? Sometimes I feel light I'm fighting against the SS at times in a Pip Boy tug of war lol :)

I've also found that if you create a "wecome mat" rug in work shop mode, and place it in a secure location, someplace that gives you an tactical advantage, you will fast travel to that spot as opposed to the generic one established by the game. Greatly enhances your survival in large battles.

Never experienced not arriving in sneak mode if I was sneaking when fast traveling, same goes for entering buildings. So dunno what's up with your problem

So weird. So some people DO experience my problem and some don't? How random is that?

Yeah, sounds weird. Perhaps those who experience it, have something in common. changed keybind for crouch, controller or mouse, console or PC etc. Could be something weird like having a habit of always spinning the pictures during load screens or what else keys or buttons people play with during load screens.

In old fallout games, your perception determine how close the enemy was. Higher the perction the greater the distance between u and the enemy during ranom encouters, old way of fast travel.
