Bought the game for PC last week from Best buy and I want to know if I can register the game with Steam without downloading the whole thing?

I have a usage cap and it's close to the end of the month.

Unfortunately most the game still needs to be downloaded from the Internet. The DVD only holds ~4.7GB and the game install is ~26GB (at least fully patched and with the DLC).

Not the best option, but you could pause the download when you are about to hit the cap then wait until you roll into the next month before allowing it to continue.

Thanks guys I'm not overly worried about downloading it till next month bought it more for mods when they come out. I have a character on a buddies xbox that I want to finish before I re start anyhow.

I just want to make sure the key works fine though since it will be possibly over a month old once I can install it. I don't want it in my queue at all Steam tends to do what it wants sometimes and has used up a lot of my usage in the past even though I have checked off the auto install/update boxes lol.

I've never bought a Steam key before but I doubt not using it immediately would be a problem. You should be all set as far as your concern. Enjoy!

All worked out it was a retail copy.
