I've recently started playing again and have been messing around for the last few days as I play to find a decent balance between distant LOD and performance.

Today, my first time out west of Skingrad I noticed that after only a few minutes running around the Gold Coast I get increasingly severe hitching or stuttering every second or so.

It is mitigated by entering / exiting an interior for a short while or reloading the game itself, it persists if I fast travel over to for eg. South of the Imperial Isle, but I've never experienced it starting anywhere East of Skingrad.

There is generally a performance increase if I restart the game and a larger one if I restart the PC.

I can usually play at 60fps without RAEVWD and Oblivion Reloaded installed and 45-55 with them, apart from some stuttering / pop in when cells load.

The rig is a laptop.

And my mods are:

I'm using BOSS, WRYE BASH, ENBBOOST and OSR.

Have tried disabling OSR and ENBOOST

Edited to add: Have monitored CPU and GPU temps with HWInfo, CPU doesn't pass 90, GPUs don't pass 70 (deg. C) but the stuttering is absolutely associated with increased fan noise.

Any ideas?
