How Old Is Your "Username"?

Post » Mon Apr 04, 2016 9:41 pm

Kinda of a weird question but I am rather curious. For those who keeps the same online identify (FYI: The same username) throughout their lifetime... How old is yours? Obviously, if you constantly keep changing your username then this question can be more altered to how long has it been since your first username...

I am honestly, and well obviously, quite young compared to a lot of people on here; early twenties; and 10 years from this day, I logged onto something online for the very first time in my life. Before so, I mostly didn't used the internet or didn't even played any games online. I grew up on singleplayer experience and even through my teen years, I never manage to get multiplayer experience with anything except for well, RuneScape (because of RS was like the only internet game back then that can run on dial-up just fine for me). Anyways, going off track, kinda... You see, til then. I've been just playing games on my PS1/PS2, Xbox, perhaps building with LEGOs, and many other things I was doing at my younger child age.

So, for the most part, I didn't really cared to use the internet. I really only used it for searching purposes, be it trying to search up for a specific toy, game, or knowledge on something which I was lacking. I didn't even had an official email or anything. I was just using a random generated Kid-Email for AOL (AOL we were using for our Dial-Up). One day, exactly 10 years from today, I saw someone playing RuneScape on the computer at school, which caught my attention. I'm into medieval and fantasy stuff greatly, and despite the graphics, I was curious. The child told me what it was and how to go about it, and so that night, I checked out the site and started my first online account registration.

Obviously, the first thing it asked me was for an username and I thought about it for like 45 minutes honestly. Going through a bunch of stupid names, names from things I already like, and so on... Then I started thinking of an actual username. Something that is me. Not something I like or enjoy at the time, since you can grow out of anything in due time, and soon... I came up with Jusey1, using letters from my real full name. 3 from my first, 2 from my last, and 1 as an extra number because: 3-2-1 (countdown)...

And so, my username Jusey1, which I use on every site I've either visited or go to normally (unless used already, in which case it is Jusey01) is 10 years old today... And I'm still using this username.

Anyways, after thinking about this... I decided that this would be interesting discussion... So what about you guys?

Well, I don't use it everywhere, but Kiralyn2000 is from, well, 2000.

I'd been using Kiralyn as a common RPG character name for a long time (it was my D&D character in High School in the 80's, then I started using it for CRPGs), so I went to use it as a username on.... something. Don't even remember anymore. AOL? And it told me it was in use, and the default suggestion for a replacement was tacking the year onto the name I'd tried. So, Kiralyn2000.

Since about 1997. Before that I went by either Bellcrank, Palin, or Kitara(Dragonlance enthusiasts might notice a trend there ^^). I still have my original email address that I ever created as well, from yahoo. I also use a few variations on this name, such as Shadowwulf, Darkwulf & Nightwulf(all 3 of those also factor into a backstory for Starwulf that I wrote back in the early 2000's).
